I’m always looking for easier ways to get better nutrition into the dudes.

If it were up to them we’d probably eat BBQ chicken and Cinnamon Toast Crunch with M&Ms in it for dinner every night.

Go ahead and gag. You know you want to.

But actually, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty tasty with M&Ms mixed in and everything is tasty if you BBQ it.  I mean, that’s what I hear anyway.

As hard as it is to believe, it’s even harder for me to make sure they don’t survive on skittles and Popsicles during the summer than it is during the busy school year.

We are just so busy laying around in our jammies all day watching 80s movies and Austin and Ally marathons being active and traveling and enjoying life outdoors and away from the house during the summer that sometimes dinner gets pushed to the side.

When this happens pretty much every day I find myself scrambling around the kitchen trying to pretend I did something important all day looking for something quick and NOT in hot dog form to serve them.  Or, we just have ice cream for dinner!

I like to spring the treat on the dudes when my motivation to cook is entirely nonexistent as a surprise for good behavior.  Or, as a culmination to an otherwise perfect day.  Or just because I say so.

And, in case you’re wondering I never ever feel guilty about it. If we’re out, we stop and get it at the parlor where they serve organic, farm fresh ice cream and toppings we love.  Nothing to feel bad about there!  Plus it’s National Ice Cream month which means guilt free ice cream gut stuffing is in full effect!

If we’re home, I go for the home churned one or we make it ourselves with milk and fresh strawberries. Except for #3 who abhors ice cream (I know, right?!), he goes for strawberry shortcake instead!
