Amazon has revealed plans to extend its Black Friday sale to almost two weeks as retailers gear up for the biggest shopping day of the calender year.
Market experts predict an estimated £5 billion will be spent in the week of Black Friday alone this November – but Amazon will be discounting products well in advance – 12 days in the run-up to the 25th.
Last year, on Black Friday, Amazon sold more than 7.4m items in the UK, a record for the company involving sales at a rate of 86 items a second.

When is Black Friday 2016? Deals predictions, stores to watch and shopping tips ahead of the huge November blow out
Black Friday has grown exponentially in the UK in the last five years, after Amazon, and US owned supermarket Asda shifted the shopping bonanza to Britain following it’s success in America.
This year, starting on 14 November, Amazon intends offer double the number of deals compared to last year. The online retailer said it was extending its promotions, which ran for about a week last year, in response to customer feedback.
For the first time, The Black Friday Sale on Amazon.co.uk will run for 12 days, starting on Monday 14th November and culminating on Friday 25 November.
Customers can get an early start on Christmas shopping with deals available from day one on gifts from HD TVs, phones, and audio products, to must-have beauty buys, stylish home accessories and fashion, and some of the most popular toys of the year.

In previous years, retailers have witnessed chaos at its finest, with shoppers panic-buying electicals – in a bid to bag the best bargains.
However, last year Black Friday was a more subdued occasion in supermarkets and high streets, with shoppers choosing to look for deals online instead of in shops.
Currys PC World famously reported a record-breaking 30 TVs selling each minute online last year, following the release of Black Friday deals at 6am on the day itself. Here’s what to expect this time around.
Amazon has more than doubled its UK workforce for November and December, bringing in 20,000 temporary seasonal workers.

Doug Gurr, the UK country manager for Amazon, said: “In response to positive customer feedback for Black Friday deals, we are introducing the Black Friday Sale – 12 days of fantastic deals on must-have gifts and products, saving our customers millions of pounds.
“We’re also thrilled to have over 1,000 small businesses featuring in our Black Friday sale, broadening the selection for our customers and enabling those businesses to boost their sales in the run-up to Christmas.”
Beauty electricals brand Braun has revealed it will host some big discounts across personal tech – from men’s grooming to hair straighteners – on November 25 – and reduced items will be available to buy at Amazon.co.uk.
A statement says: “Braun will have a huge saving across its entire male and female grooming portfolio within key in store and online retailers.”
Last year’s biggest Amazon deals included kindles, kitchen appliances, beauty electricals and Xbox One bundles – the retailer went huge on their own brand items – including the Amazon Fire TV stick and this year we’re expecting the Amazon Echo to make an appearance.
Over the course of the week, Amazon revealed over 7,000 Deals of the Day from sat navs, to electric toothbrushes and Minion toys – as well as kindle deals, Xbox One bargains and MacBook Airs.
If you’re after anything big or expensive, we’d advise bookmarking your goods now, ahead of the Black Friday blow out.
