MANILA – With its commitment to be accountable not just to its customers but to the environment, Camella, the flagship brand of Vista Land and Lifescapes, Inc., brought electric-powered jeepneys (e-jeepneys) to its communities in the Visayas, namely Vista City Iloilo and Camella Bacolod.

Set to ply all over Camella’s residential enclaves in Iloilo and Bacolod, the e-jeepneys run on pure electricity, instead of gasoline or diesel; hence, they are smoke-free, noise-free and environment-friendly.

For residents’ accessibility to vital destinations within and outside the communities, Camella e-jeepneys serve as an addition to the traditional diesel-fueled shuttles that cater to the growing number of residents in Vista City Iloilo and Camella Bacolod. An e-jeepney has a capacity of 14 passengers, with a minimum fare of eight pesos.

“We, in Camella, are glad to be the first to acquire e-jeepneys in the Visayas. It did not only create excitement, but it also fostered positive feedback from our homeowners. Hence, we will continue to be the frontrunner in bringing innovation and technology that will not only serve our clients, but will also be good to the environment,” said Atty. Pam Gako, Camella chief operating officer for Visayas.

Aside from e-jeepneys, Camella helps minimize earth damage by implementing eco-friendly practices in its communities such as waste segregation program that targets “zero waste,” and greening programs that aim to proliferate endemic plant species not just for aesthetic purposes but for better air quality and cooler surroundings.

“As a company, the commitment we make to sustainable practices ensures the longevity of our business and the planet’s shared resources,” added Gako.

Camella, the flagship brand of the country’s biggest homebuilder Vista Land, has built more than 300,000 homes in 36 provinces and 95 cities and municipalities. Through the years, it has created an immense selection of affordable, high-quality homes with world-class settings and exquisitely themed masterplanned communities across the country  – each one carrying Vista Land’s expertise in space planning, carefully thought out and sustainable architecture, and an innate knack for selecting the most accessible and attractive locations./PN
