Summertime is definitely the time to hit your local waterpark, but if you can’t swim, you can’t really enjoy it! Luckily, the City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department’s Denson Pool, 225 NW 12th Avenue (which qualifies as a waterpark in our book because of their 3 slides,) offers Group Swimming Lessons for kids ages 3 and older. Young children must be potty trained. Classes are held Tuesday – Friday and Saturday throughout the summer 2016.

If you’re little one is younger, don’t fret. They also offer Group Swimming Lessons for Toddlers. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Classes will be held throughout the summer on Saturdays from 10:00-10:30 a.m. (Session 1 June 4 – 2* * No class June 18)

They also offer Private Swim Lessons for kids ages 3 and older. Young children must be potty trained. Private swim lessons are 30 minutes long and cost $15 for residents and $18 for non-residents.

For older kids, weekday group lessons are held Tuesday -Friday. Level I – Beginners, Level II – Intermediate and Level III – Advanced are held from 9-9:45 a.m., 9:45-10:30 a.m., 10:30-11:15 a.m., 4:30-5:15 p.m., 5:15-6 p.m., or 6-6:45 p.m. There are four 45-minute classes per session. The schedule for June lessons is the following:

Session 1 June 14 – 17

Session 2 June 21 – 24

Session 3 June 28 – July 1

Saturday group lessons are held for four consecutive Saturdays for 45 minutes from 10:30-11:15 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Cost per session is $40 for residents and $50 for non-residents.

Session 1 June 4 – 2* * No class June 18

Cost per session is $40 for residents and $50 for non-residents.

Parents who are enrolling their children for the first time in any of the department’s activities must provide their child’s birth certificate and a proof of residency during registration.

Of course, the pool isn’t just for youngsters who are learning to swim. They also have Aqua Fitness classes five times a week. Participants will enjoy water fitness activities and social fun in the heated municipal pool for year round exercise.

Aqua Fitness will be held Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. and on Saturdays from 9:45 – 10:30 a.m. No registration is required! Program is held on a walk-in basis for the low cost of $3.00. Discount passes available.

If Aqua Fitness isn’t your cup of tea, you might want to try Water Walking. Participants will enjoy walking with the added resistance of the water while they have fun and socialize in the heated municipal pool. Lanes are available Tuesday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. No registration is required! Water walking is held on a drop-in basis for $2. Discount passes available. Participants will recieve prizes for completing Milestones.

If you’re more of a swimming laps person, lanes are available Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  No registration is required! Lap Swimming is held on a walk-in basis for $2 and a discount pass is also available.

In addition, the pool offers Open Swim, 5 times a week.  Come to the pool Tuesday – Friday from 1 – 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 – 5 p.m., Walk–in admission is $2 for adults, ages 18 and older and $1 for children, ages 5 – 17 at the door. Children 4 and under are free!  Enjoy open swim and water park features with the family, year-round, in the heated pool supervised by trained and certified lifeguards.

The facility has a special needs entrance ramp, parking and an aquatic safety lift for special needs entrance into the water.
