On a recent dark and dreary night, nearly 100 brave souls gathered in the old church at Yesteryear Village to attempt to awaken the dead. No, this wasn’t a black mass; it was a ghost tour!

Held for the first time this year during the South Florida Fair, the Bayou Ghost Tour is conducted in Yesteryear Village every night at 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday (no tour the last Sun., Jan. 29), and at 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

During the tour, a series of guides walk guests quietly through the Corbett Shack, Bait & Tackle Shop and the Riddle House to hear ghost stories and the history affiliated with each of the buildings along with fishing accident and New Orleans swamp stories. Perhaps they’ll even spot or hear a ghost weighing in! Some fairgoers who have already done the tour have said they’ve felt the presence of “spirits.”

Can you see any spirits in the photos above? When we were there, we thought we saw a face in the Corbett Shack!

The Riddle House, which is reportedly “haunted,” has been featured on the Travel Channel’s “Ghost Adventures” and “Ghost Adventures: Aftershocks” television programs.

Once you RSVP, please arrive no later than 8:45 p.m. (Sun.-Thurs.) and 9:45 p.m. (Fri. and Sat.) We will give instructions at that time as to what may be filmed so as not to “give anything away” to future attendees.

So, if you’re brave enough, be sure to make your reservations for the Bayou Ghost Tour at the General Store inside Yesteryear Village. Happy haunting!
