Addressing a news conference at Govt DJ Science College, Sindh Professors and Lectures Association’s (SPLA) Action Committee’s Chairman Prof (Dr) Mohammad Arshad demanded of Sindh chief secretary to take notice of what they called “illegal promotions” of the college teachers from BPS-18 to 19. Prof Yaqoob Chandio, Prof Shamim Bhutto also telked to press conference

Quoting the budget book, he claimed that though the total strength of college teachers is 9986, the education department was unaware of the number of teachers who were to be promoted under the four-tier formula.

He alleged that since education department in its working papers deliberately showed less number of teachers, hundreds of teachers were deprived of their due promotions.

Another leader of SPLA, Prof Mohammad Iftikhar Azmi, asked the provincial chief secretary to conduct an inquiry against Secretary (Services), who as a special secretary in education department, had unlawfully stopped inquiry against a teacher of Malir’s Jamia Millia College reportedly on the request of his personal friend.

Terming Sindh’s Removal of Services Ordinance-2000 `Draconian Law’, he claimed that although the former president Asif Ali Zardari, federal, Punjab, Khyber Pukhtonkhwa (KPK)and Azad Kashmir had abolished it, Sindh government was still implementing the same.
