Hamid Mir may have lost his blood and GEO may loose its license to broadcast, the truth is that all the anchors of talk shows irrespective of the channel have lost their credibility, dignity, esteem, and respect. That, and they themselves exposed themselves by siding with either party, validating their vested agendas and in some cases proving who their actual pay masters are.
It was a Godsend golden chance for ARY News, Express News, Dunya News and other non-GEO channels as ISI and military threw their wrath and mighty anger onto GEO. After Hamid Mir attack, GEO tried to capitalize and tried to take military under its pressure just like it did with judiciary and political parties. It back fired, and everybody turned against them.
Now we know that these channels are blood thirsty for each other. Not only the media house owners are each other bitter rivals, all the anchors have their own enemies and their own agendas. Talat Hussain wants to slit Najam Sethi on every cost. Javed Chaudhry wants to settle score with Hamid Mir even on death bed of Hamid. Mubasher Lucman can’t tolerate even name of anything associated with Jang/GEO. Kashif Abbasi, Shahzeb Khanzada, Arshad Sharif, Pitafi, Jasmin, Aasma, and other new talk show minions are sparing no chance to come hard at GEO, simply because they didn’t get job there. They all are also badly jealous of Hamid Mir being founder of this talk show mania, and being arguably number one anchor in terms of ratings.
GEO is cornered and its anchors are getting hit from everywhere. They perhaps deserve this because they have ruled this news craziness for 7 or 8 years and practically consider themselves little gods of news. These thugs believe that they can topple anybody, and make anybody an ace in politics. Ansar Abbasi became self-proclaimed Khalifa of Pakistan. Hamid Mir’s arrogance was legendary. Kamran Khan loved to thrash everybody everyday with a reason or without any reason. Saleem Safi with despite of his idiocy believed that he was the world’s foremost expert on TTP and foreign affairs. He was daily trying to influence the government policies. Najam Sethi and his sidekick Muneeb have their own agendas.
For years now GEO and other channels for that matters have insulted, humiliated and made extreme below-the-belt fun of politicians. They have started programs like Khabarnaak and Hasb-e-Haal and Mazaq Raat to get some bhaands together and then throwing cheap shots at the politicians and their families. For example, in Khabarnaak, the idiot Aftab Iqbal and his fellow bhaands make fun of President of Pakistan as some ‘bhalla faroosh’. Now President is supreme commander of armed forces. Ironically, nobody ever complained about that, but they are now banning GEO for just flashing picture of DG ISI. The difference is that President is civilian and has no gun, but the other party is no civilian and have shown their power, and GEO is trembling. Can Aftab Iqbal dare to make a dummy of DG ISI?
Nonetheless, the way other non-GEO anchors are ripping GEO apart is very lesson oriented. Nation has seen that these anchors who give us lecture on morality, ethics, principles and generosity on daily basis are very dark and hypocrite. They would sell anything to get their petty benefits. They would kill their own brethren in media for that too, and thats what they are doing right now. After GEO, their number will come too. It will be a good riddance perhaps.
