Ecstasy has it's origins in the Greek ekstasis, meaning 'standing outside oneself'.  Philosopher Plotinus saw ecstasy as a connection back to oneness, the highest expression of human potential, identifying with that which is the best in the universe and key to attaining 'the perfect life'.

For Thoreau ecstasy was experienced as 'all walls and barriers dissipate, and I float in the midst of an unknown and infinite sea, or else heave like a vast ocean of thought'.

Maslow describes this peak experience as 'exciting, oceanic, deeply moving'.  Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's single word for ecstasy, 'the state of mind when one is using their full potential', was simply Flow.

Every morning connection awaits, right there, in the flow, just beyond our self imposed barriers. Every morning, in the ocean.
