Have you been considering entering into the medical field? Most people in the medical field know that they are likely in demand on the job market, but just how much are these jobs expected to grow? According to the latest reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, some medical jobs are expected to grow faster than others. So, if you arecomfortable in scrubs, like working with people and considering a job in the medical field, keep reading to find out more.

Home Health Aides

One of the jobs that are expected to experience a high degree of growth over the next few years is as a home health aide. In fact, the BLS expects a48 percent growth by 2022. Keep in mind that many home health aide positions are available without getting a four-year degree, and there are plenty of jobs available. Salaries for home health aides are also expected to rise.

Medical Assistants

Another job in the medical field that is expected to grow by leaps and bounds is as a medical assistant. As with a home health aide, medical assistants will not need to go through years for training in order to find work. Instead, a year, or possibly two, is all the training you will need. Medical assistants commonly help doctors and nurses with tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood and prepping exam rooms. The BLS expects medical assistant jobs to grow by29 percent by 2022.

Licensed Vocational Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses

Those considering getting into nursing will also find great growth. One area of nursing that is particularly growing is in the LVN/LPN area. Currently the BLS is showing a projected rate of growth of about25 percent through 2022. Most of the time people will be able to complete the classes and training to be an LVN or LPN in about two years. In other words, you don’t have to go to school for four years to become a nurse. Though, if you want to be an RN, you will need to take a minimum of four full years of college.

Registered Nurses

If you are willing to take on the extra years of education, job growth as a registered nurse is also expected to grow. According to the statistics from the BLS, RN jobs are expected to grow at a rate of19 percent between now and 2022. RNs are typically paid higher than LVNs and LPNs since they have gone through more training. In addition, they will also have more responsibility.

Overall, for those looking into careers in the medical field, you can expect job growth to remain quite high over the next decade or so. With more people getting older, living longer and a growing population, there is always going to be a need for medical professionals to care for them. By getting into the medical field, you will be putting yourself in a great position to have a long and very successful career.
