So... First, I'd like to thank the anonymous person who paid for a months service for my Dreamwidth account. That was very kind and thoughtful! I was planning to buy a year's service tomorrow, but this will give me some much needed breathing room. I'll be transferring my LJ over to Dreamwidth this week and paying for a year after Christmas. So thank you again! This really helps!
With that said, I'm finally making the leap to Dreamwidth. I've stuck with LJ for over 9 years, stood by them through all their asshattery, and I've finally had enough.
What saddens me is that I have issues with Dreamwidth, and I don't really want to make the move. But after this new release, this is it. Not only did LJ ignore their beta testers, and their customer base, but their only spokesperson so far (igDICK) has been rude and condescending.
My issues with Dreamwidth are mostly about what they have to offer compared to LJ. Which is funny because LJ is virtually unusable at this point. Why not go to DW which is at least functional?
My biggest sticking point with DW has always been that I can't move my communities. There is no way I'm abandoning my beloved 
hardtime100! We're talking about eight and a half years of Oz's fannish history! HT100 is the oldest, still active community for Oz. I also co-mod several other comms, including smutday.
I hear that we'll be able to export communities to DW soon. God, I hope so! I'm going, but I want to take my comms with me!
And I want the rest of Oz fandom to move with me. Yeah, all you guys! There is no community without you!
