Almost 200 people from local businesses and the Adelaide community will team up to put their foodie and fitness skills to the test at The Great Food Rescue Race on Friday 4 November, starting and finishing at Victoria Square (CBD). Teams will race between iconic food establishments competing in various cooking, nutrition and food rescue challenges, to help raise funds for OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue charity.
Now in its second year, the Great Food Rescue Race is signature event in South Australia, involving TV personalities from popular cooking shows, My Kitchen Rules winner Bree May, Masterchef contestant Jessie Spiby and host of SA Life, Rosa Matto. FiveAA radio hosts Michael Keelan and Mark Aiston will be there as event MC’s.
OzHarvest SA State Manager, Hayley Everuss, says the event is a great day of fun and games, but also highlights an important message about food waste and sustainability. “The Great Food Rescue Race is fast-paced, exciting and inspiring for all involved, it celebrates Adelaide’s food culture, puts teamwork to the test and raises much needed funds for OzHarvest.”
“Teams will be challenged to learn more about food security and homelessness, whilst giving back to the community. The race is designed to embrace food, community, sustainability, collaboration and fun!” said Hayley.
Twenty teams will race to the finish line, where delicious South Australian food generously donated by Saskia Beer and prepared by OzHarvest’s Nourish students will be served. Angela Easson will be performing live music for all to enjoy
Proud partners of this year’s event include South Australia’s largest private company OTR who will enter five teams, Nova Entertainment, Bigwig, Haycom and Tucker’s Natural. Supporting partners include, Adelaide Central Market, Hilton Adelaide, Kytons Bakery, EcoCaddy, Santos, Hither & Yon, Lobethal Bierhaus, Brand SA and Channel 44.
Anyone can get behind the event by supporting their favourite team and donating to OzHarvest, every $1 raised means OzHarvest can deliver the equivalent of two meals to people in need. .

ABOUT OZHARVEST:
OzHarvest has been operating in Adelaide for more than five years, saving over 1.7 million kilograms of good food from landfill and delivering over 5 million meals to vulnerable communities around the state.
The network of 240 volunteers and 15 staff work tirelessly collecting food from 160 donors and delivering it to 125 charitable agencies that feed people in need.
