Svelte: A person of slender elegance and grace.
Svelte is also the name of my new favorite organic protein shake. Our Wellness department only recently started carrying these ready-made shakes; of which are available in a conveniently sized tetra pack. I buy a single shake while I’m at work (we sell them cold in our supplement fridge) and buy several of the 4-packs for my fridge at home. I have a pretty busy schedule these days so being able to take a healthy on-the-go meal to campus is great. It saves me from the standard campus foods; none of which are very healthy.
Svelte shakes are made from organic soy milk and contain 11 grams of protein, complex carbohydrates, pre-biotics, and only 6 grams of sugar. And of course, they are dairy and gluten free. Having those complex carbohydrates, which take your body longer to metabolize, help to keep one sustained and feeling fuller longer. I must say that it does sustain me for about 5 hours. Best of all, they are available in five flavors, all of which are delicious. There is French vanilla, Chocolate, Spiced Chai, Cappuccino, and Banana Crème. Now let me just say, ordinarily, I am not a fan of bananas or banana flavored products; however this banana crème shake is my favorite one! No joke, I look forward to my mid- morning breaks when I have my shake. To get more nutrients, I add a tablespoon of chia seeds and a teaspoon of Bee pollen. I do only add the bee pollen to the banana shake because the flavors pair so well together (we sell both of those products in our Bulk Herbs section).
