CONSTRUCTION TRADES class in Corunna members, shown here, Ryan Cannon, Michael Parker, Hunter Alchin, Derek Fisher, Ryan Root, and Kenny Johnston show one recent project the group of high school seniors have completed in teacher Dave Harrison’s Construction Trades class. The five-by-ten-foot shed was constructed for the high school cross country team, and the group is already busy constructing an even larger shed to be used by the Corunna youth football program.
The group, which also includes Devon Hersha, has learned many skills in Mr. Harrison’s class, and several of the youngsters plan to use the skills to begin careers after high school. Parker already has an apprenticeship lined up with Rowe Engineering, Alchin intends to become an engineer, Fisher will get right to work with his family business, Fisher Construction, and Root plans to employ himself in the woodworking industry as well.
The group spent roughly a month and a half constructing the building, which sits against the high school, next to the cross country course. (Courtesy Photo)
