The only thing sexier than a penthouse view of Central Park is a penthouse bathroom with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking New York City’s famed green acres. “If you have a bit of an exhibitionist side,” said Miles about Suite 57 — which takes up the entire north side of the top floor — “the shower is right [there].”

“I love a room with something unexpected and unique,” said Miles about the Roccia Suite at this Sorrento residence, which truly transports you to another time. There is actually a hydro-massage pool at the foot of an elegantly draped canopy bed. It all sits within stones recreated from an ancient Roman cave. “Details like that really make a room stand out.”

There are five different bedroom options offered at this modern Bali haven, and “spacious” is the word that comes to mind for all of them. “It’s like you’re king and queen of your own little kingdom,” Miles said of the impressive indoor-outdoor square footage at your disposal. Manicured gardens, outdoor pavilions and terraces, and an infinity pool are added bonuses.

In the hills over Florence, lovers in the Affresco Suite marvel at an 1886 ceiling fresco by Bruschi and two oil canvases by Gabriel van der Leeuw, known as Il Fiammingo. “The whole hotel just oozes rich, decadent glamour,” said Miles about Il Salviatino, which combines a Renaissance past with high-tech toys of the future. But Miles believes the staff is the best part. “As soon as you pull up, you’re greeted by rather dashing gentlemen in perfectly cut Italian suits,” she said, “and that sets the tone for your entire stay.”

Though Miles admits that this star-studded haunt may be an obvious Hollywood choice, she can’t help but admire the undeniable je ne sais quoi of the André Balazs hideaway. “It’s so discreet but has such a decadent vibe,” she said. The cottages, bungalows, and penthouses are often used as temporary homes, and they come with formal dining rooms, balconies, and private terraces. The walls are soundproof, and the earthquake-proof building was literally constructed to withstand any bump in the night.

If you’re planning to spend your honeymoon on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Miles suggests this historic and family-run boutique hotel. “It’s easy to see why the Amalfi is still the top spot for honeymooners,” said Miles, as she quickly rattled off the reasons — the sun, the sea, the views, and the food are tantalizing traps for newlyweds. “The deluxe room has 360-degree views of the sea, the mountains, and the vertiginously photogenic village of Positano itself.” Picture perfect.

You don’t have to break the bank to soak up every ounce of romance that Provence has to offer. With not one but two roll-top baths side by side, Miles says the master suite at this countryside manor is effortlessly elegant in detail and an overall, top-notch option if you’re looking for a more affordable stay. “Friends of mine honeymooned there and have barely stopped talking about it since,” she said.

Deserted beaches, champagne cruises, and the picture-perfect Maldives waters serve as the backdrop for the resort’s beach villa hideaways in this secluded part of the world.
