Many people come to reinvention when life changes around them, but people come in all different stripes. I'm oriented to change.
-Jane Pauley
Unlike Jane,I am into reinvention, but I definitely like my stripes a different way. I realize horizontal stripes are big on the trend scene...it is one of those trends which goes in and out on a regular basis.
But, for a curvy lady as I am, the horizontal stripe is not a figure flattering look. I bought this Daisy Fuentes top at Kohl's last year. I love the diagonals of the top and how slender I feel in it. This is how to make a trend work for your body type...maybe go in a different direction!!
I have studied fashion rules for years (which I will discuss on Tuesday), but it does make a difference to learn what will flatter your body type. I also like the vertical stripes and find them to be flattering as well. Here are a couple of looks, first from Foxcroft Contrast Stripe; second from Talbots...both more figure flattering than horizontal.
