Transformation with Melissa Krivachek
On today’s show we’ll look at transformation… and we’ll talk to my quest who transformed her body, her self confidence and her life and went from spending 6 days in jail and weighing over 300 lbs to running her first half marathon, becoming a 2 time international best selling author, on an international tour and trading a 24 Pepsi(s) a day addiction for an Outdoor High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) habit!
Also Jessica Bailey is back to share a tip on helping you get more from your push-ups in this week’s Sassy Girl Exercise Tune-up.

just hit pause don’t worry I will be here when you get back
3:47
I promise I’m not gonna go on without you you are way too important
3:51
why would I do that so it was 2011
3:55
and things were not going well for Melissa
3:58
she wasn’t healthy she felt like she had no purpose in life
4:01
her way with outta control she was drinking upwards up 24
4:06
pepsi’s a day and she topped the skillet over 300 pounds
4:09
but things actually got worse she spent six days in jail
4:13
was over fifty thousand dollars in debt and she even had a car
4:16
repossessed fortunately her story does not end there and I’m excited
4:21
to have her on the show today to share with you how she transformed
4:25
her body she found purpose and dramatically turned her life around
4:30
so let’s get started and jump right into my interview
4:33
with Melissa
4:35
okay Melissa I’m so happy to have you on the show and I
4:39
can’t wait to hear all about your success in this
4:42
in this journey that you’ve been on I guess to start with that
4:45
I really like to find out what prompted you to
4:48
get started on this mission on this goal to transform your body
4:53
well for Steve thanks for having me and
4:57
you know what prompted me to be on his journey really was very low self esteem
5:01
and low
5:02
self-confident low self-worth and I knew that if I wanted to you
5:06
you know think more myself value myself higher
5:09
and attract what I wanted to attract in life there is no greater way to do that
5:14
than to start a journey
5:15
transformation you know in hands you know that transformation is not just don
5:20
in the Jan but it’s on in the kitchen and it’s done by drinking water and
5:24
doing
5:25
you know healthy eating every single day whether you want to or not
5:30
right yet they can develop these healthy habits right yeah I know and I think
5:34
there’s no
5:34
are times I don’t want to do it than I do yeah insisted today
5:38
I know that every small step by today forward it going to impact my body and
5:44
its
5:44
really just helping me create longevity and adheres to my life our
5:49
weren’t there or have you always struggled with
5:53
your self-esteem and all that or is this kind of a newer thing for you as you
5:56
went through different changes in your life show I think I would say I’m always
6:01
struggle with something issues up until the last
6:04
probably year-and-a-half where I’ve just be calmly incredibly competent to take
6:08
over the world
6:09
pain but harm you know
6:13
it still an issue and I think a lot of having body issues whether you want to
6:17
admit it or not
6:18
and thing and you know you look in the mirror and say to yourself Lake
6:22
re: really that bad and most of us aren’t even really that bad
6:25
or are you that skinny are do we have a have to have his body type or you know
6:30
whatever the case did
6:32
not tall enough I’m you now short whatever
6:35
yeah it doesn’t matter but the point is that you know I’ve struggled for most my
6:39
life with that
6:40
and ever tomorrow but many riders Lake not had
6:44
the coffin and I knew I should have orkut have yeah
6:47
and that was really like killing productivity and everything else around
6:51
and kinda thing we r Baxter record a factor
6:54
family in a fax up we’re dating it affects so many more games than jest
6:59
you we have low self esteem in low confidence it just kinda bleeds into
7:03
every aspect of your life yes sir you’re gonna be the person not flake
7:07
native man seen walking around complaining that the fact is falling hit
7:11
a you really sure we are because now I’m noticed that and
7:15
you know I have become extremely common and extremely passionate that
7:19
many the people that you know first walk into jams or
7:23
first getting to finance are really %ah
7:26
while they’re scared they’re fearful they don’t know
7:29
white the journey is going to look like and they really don’t understand how
7:33
hard it’s going to be
7:34
yeah because everything that you hear on TV makes it seem like its
7:38
it’s easy just put in this tape and do this thing and BAM you look like this
7:41
written
7:42
yeah but the other day it definitely not
7:46
EDU but your once you get started and make the commitment to work out to eat
7:51
healthy decal water near body every single day
7:54
you find what works for you then you’re gonna be more successful at it and it’s
7:58
going to be more sustainable long-term
8:00
what I find people like doing a at the beginning of the year
8:05
all let’s go to the gym for three hours a day
8:09
workout relate this for 14 days and then what kancelar gym membership right
8:14
right that not sustainable your try to bite off too much
8:18
eaten too big a chunk yeah and they do it with water to dock
8:22
intake way to pound the Water Day for like the first 40
8:26
under white bottoms drowning in water and
8:29
meet most people don’t know this but there is a point where you don’t drown
8:32
yourself now and actually are storing back because
8:36
yeah you’re drinking too much water right it’s a balancing act
8:40
when you and I were talking before we get started here
8:43
you reminded me that there’s this term that you made up that I just love can
8:47
you explain that
8:48
that term yeah it called jam intimidation and basically wanted
8:54
it did men and women who are intimidated
8:57
by going to the jam to simply because they’re comparing themselves
9:02
to the people that are there who are muscular who are
9:06
bit to have you know the perfect body type
9:09
there even is one yeah and the do this outside in their real-life
9:14
everything all day so they’re doing is comparing in the mall at work online
9:20
everywhere ended in that we’re talking about it
9:23
factors of healthy in terms of competence so much more so
9:26
shoot imitation is really just a factor I love
9:29
men and women competing against each other
9:32
in a way that benefits absolutely no one
9:35
yeah any can be particularly when you get started
9:38
no matter what shape your and it can be really intimidating as you
9:42
you’re walking into a new place with people you don’t know
9:45
with strange equipment you know exactly sure what you’re gonna do yet or if you
9:49
can do it
9:50
on top of comparing yourself everybody that’s their
9:53
yeah and then released Oct 21st get started I’ll have a hidden
9:58
her home
10:00
in God because you’ll are on
10:03
something that you really never done before and then you’ve got the thoughts
10:07
running through your head like
10:08
in my going to be successful right and even when you get to the point of having
10:12
the body that you desire
10:14
I the standard get raised once again and your back at square one
10:18
thinking you know can I really do this right
10:22
you’re the crazy thing is it that no matter where you are
10:25
in your situation you there’s always somebody that you look at and go all man
10:31
I wish I was in
10:32
I wish I had that job I wish I had you know that
10:35
lifestyle or that your body image or whatever it is
10:38
but there’s always somebody looking at you saying the same thing
10:42
oh yeah you know yeah i keeping that in mind right yeah
10:46
the big thing is like nothing is going to be more important to you during the
10:50
href fitness or any other journey you decide to embark on and your life
10:54
beside your mind set your mind that is when a make or break you every single
10:58
time but it
10:58
specially true and fitness yeah what are some other things that
11:03
you learned and I want you to at some point reveal
11:06
how successful you been in this journey cuz I’m I’m so impressed with his great
11:11
but what are some other things that you learned along the way
11:14
if you were to talk to you your former self
11:17
when you were getting started waterson what some in the advice that you give
11:20
don’t think you can do it all without accountability
11:23
because you’ve never done it before so when I first started
11:27
I thought I could do everything without somebody holding you accountable or
11:31
somebody
11:31
helping me go step by step and create the road map along the way
11:36
cell I you would find myself but most will James ball club memberships and I
11:41
would
11:41
go therefore you know to three hours at a time
11:45
where I saw how and now I’m at the point where I just literally
11:49
do actors 5.5 12 to 20 minutes a day
11:53
twice today once in the morning one
11:55
the evening and as a result they’ve been able to do we lose half my body way over
12:00
the last year or so
12:02
as incredible yeah well thank you but it’s not over
12:06
in not over but the thing is that you really have to focus on
12:11
this small steps every single day sorry no
12:14
the water a healthy their hearty that
12:17
the difference between it well people that make it on the cover
12:20
big fat magazine and all the other individuals who don’t
12:24
is small decisions made everything all day
12:28
so even if it’s your birthday you’re not gonna be found eating cake you’re gonna
12:31
be found eating salad and that’s what
12:33
adds up this I’m eating lifestyle that you see people and that you desire but
12:38
you don’t have the discipline and its tacit
12:40
actually although it grows it’s funny cuz I’ve talked with some
12:43
some other people on the show before who said very similar
12:47
things that I think one of my favorite ones is my
12:50
my friend Jessica Bailey I do another show with her and she said
12:54
what you eat in private you wear in public and its so true it’s
12:58
you have to you really have to make those good decisions
13:02
throughout the day another you deprive yourself but you have to do you do have
13:05
to make
13:06
really good judgments in good decisions and understand that
13:09
there’s consequences to everything positive and that’s a positive
13:13
oh and there definitely is like I can tell you I was
13:16
a yet soda or pop act like you would find me drinking soda like
13:21
law I prolly drained a 24 pack a day
13:24
why I mean I Drake happy like
13:28
there was like a market for drinking pepsi I just have to drink Pepsi
13:32
every single day at every hour every minute of the day you would find me
13:36
drinking pepsi
13:37
the last year %ah the guy I was dating at the time
13:40
said dole think about taking yourself of a packed the
13:44
all at one time because you’re gonna find
13:46
yourself sick and I was like don’t tell me what to do and bad is when the
13:51
journey began
13:52
and I have not picked up any kind of pop star defense while
13:56
as amazing that alone had to be
14:00
a tremendous boost to your system cuz I mean the sugar and
14:04
I mean a 24 pack a day Wow oh my god
14:07
wat you even believe actually a I think I lost a significant amount of weight by
14:12
just stopping
14:14
the Pappy yeah and people in real life this but
14:17
the sugar that you’re addicted to you whether it’s pepsi or knots
14:22
the amount that you put in your body actually a fax your mind much more than
14:26
you know
14:26
I’m so you’ll notice when you get of this sugar types substance
14:30
that your clarity increases your productivity increases your
14:35
mmm mind that can actually focused on what you really want to achieve and as a
14:40
result
14:40
everything in abundance increases it’s a very addictive
14:44
substance you take a look at a piece a cake sometimes and and you know
14:49
everyone’s heads the peer pressure thing everyone says celebrating or never
14:52
and you look at you go you know I really don’t wanna have the whole well I well
14:56
you have it and within two minutes after eating you go
15:00
%uh huh it’s like this addiction thing that’s really
15:03
it really got a hold the people yeah I think sugar is more addicting than like
15:07
marijuana cocaine or any other drug on a planet right now
15:10
is something that people are absolutely addicted to you and completely unaware
15:15
up
15:15
yeah it in so many things for sure you were talking about
15:20
that you like to spend and he said twelve the 20 minutes a day outside
15:24
exercising so yet so what exactly are you
15:27
what do you do what what I puff exercise you doing
15:31
hits work out so high intensity training and I love them because
15:36
I’ve studied the difference between full body workout which is what had training
15:40
essentially is me and I can’t even work right now basically work out where you
15:45
work
15:46
run by
15:46
current time and a different is the up molecular
15:51
an physiological changes that happen inside the body so when you do I hate
15:56
work out a high intensity training
15:58
you actually burner nine times more fat
16:02
and it burns for 48 hours after you do the workout versus training one part of
16:08
your body like by factor the legs or whatever day
16:11
at a time so you get that much more
16:14
up back from a higher intensity who lower standard work out so to speak
16:20
yeah yeah I’ve I had gotten into the
16:23
Tabata training which is very similar to you too high intensity training is just
16:28
its it’s like getting a and hours worth
16:32
they standard workout in a compact period time because you’re just going
16:36
full out as hard as you can for short periods right
16:39
yeah the funny thing is you’ll notice even the most I’ll be
16:43
businesspeople have a difficult time doing this kind of work out because it
16:47
didn’t go in 10
16:49
yeah and in I remember working out with this guy
16:52
and he made Bowl Lord be with know compared to beat everybody else out
16:57
where he had never granted
16:58
outdoor picnic I or and you literally like collapse and I’ll play
17:04
%uh you know why don’t you get up into work it out harder
17:08
any her collapsed again because he what he has or information back in like he
17:13
should be better never be out between someone’s
17:15
better than everybody else right the reality is these workout are
17:19
extreme yeah they are you and in as an essay with the the time that it doesn’t
17:24
work as if you approach it
17:26
the way that you would approach another workout wear your pacing yourself
17:29
you know you can go i’ve got I’m going to do this for half an hour to pace
17:32
myself in just don’t go full out
17:34
have you experienced that oh yeah I like I’m training for Half Marathon in April
17:39
and you now they say E okay I’m totally not a runner
17:43
I’m back or not I rather lift weights or do I intense fear whatever
17:47
but nara yeah
17:50
that but I had promised my friend I was like hey ya hold you accountable and as
17:53
a result
17:54
saying that I am NOT signing my upper half marathon
17:57
haha good for you that’s awesome well so they feel like run three miles the first
18:02
week and then do you like seventeen weeks in this training wall
18:06
I know while most people buy it can handle running a I’m not going to push
18:10
my body and handling running I’d rather exercise my mind bad
18:14
to keep myself going for thirty-mile then to exercise my body for 17 weeks to
18:20
prepare for something that’s going to take more
18:22
willpower than its gonna take up you know
18:25
being fit right it’s gonna be a mental thing at at a certain point is to keep
18:30
going
18:30
exactly and dog while she’s you know busy running
18:34
hmm 3 35 seven-mile day I’m like of I’m not doing that now
18:39
yeah is this going to your first
18:42
half marathon SN death in my first time running anything
18:46
Wow sorry and really see you skip the 5k in the tanking array2 half marathon
18:52
yeah only because I told her I’d help her be accountable I
18:56
I thought node in and maybe she can afford you a little bit to rate so
19:00
SEP on my you yesterday she was asking what
19:05
Aki used to keep ourselves accountable and i was thinkin right
19:08
fell arm I’m doing when they work out to a hospital demanded
19:12
decade I that’s right all we have to do is call each other that’s it
19:17
good right now trade right now %um you also
19:21
are big and in this makes a lot of sense because you’re very into
19:25
you know the mindset and success in goals in all that your you’re a
19:28
best-selling author too can you talk about
19:30
some love your as above your books yep so I know you ask me I mention this
19:35
earlier and
19:36
I am a two-time international bestselling author and award-winning on
19:40
screen or sell my job is to really help people achieve
19:44
their next level 6i whatever that looks like for them personally or
19:48
professionally
19:49
and no I’m not a fitness instructor so you won’t be see me do that but
19:53
I do know what it takes to transform your body and I’d love to help
19:57
inspire people to do
19:58
that in 20 I can just be there for them about of
20:01
but you know I wrote three books in 2014 bball the how not
20:06
to stop and loves to fuck my happiness I
20:10
haha be a baller the blueprint to have it all which is basically 25 traits and
20:15
characteristics
20:15
entrenar or people need to have in order to attain a level six of a walk no
20:21
matter
20:21
it in finance and directed and how yeah and then
20:25
finally Bowl helping you on a leash the year with an
20:28
yeah and basically you know that about taking rest and getting rewarded
20:32
you know I actually have a close friend of mine in the fitness industry does
20:36
happen million dollars a month in revenue
20:38
and it’s because you know she went from having
20:41
two small children and oMG endorse
20:45
with her husband was cheating to I realizing that she was 75 pounds
20:49
overweight and needed to make the transformation
20:51
but you know for myself I actually went from the world
20:56
retail over I was over 300 pound I was late
21:00
cook I don’t know what my passion was I ended up spending six days in jail was
21:04
fifty grand and that
21:06
Mac App I’ve credit cards have my car vast and white really really stop for me
21:10
at the point
21:11
I decided to make a decision to change and now
21:14
jest four years later I am going on an international tour with last brown
21:20
I am named often by the National Council
21:23
American executives as the top one percent
21:27
%uh executive in the US in 2014 and you know I bet on the cover
21:31
abolition magazine at their top power-play are under 48
21:34
so a lot has changed but it’s only because
21:38
I’ve decided to change your as amazing
21:41
I have to have you back to tell me that story cuz that’s incredible
21:45
wow that is just amazing Melissa you just went from
21:49
one extreme to the other with your life and
21:52
I was gonna say I love the fact that no you your writing books about
21:57
getting everything you want being successful how to do it how to be bold
22:01
and you not just writing the book you’re actually doing it
22:05
you know so you have a tremendous amount of credibility yeah and that’s it
22:08
being like my writing style is super different than any other offer
22:12
I’ve I’ve read and i’ve red a week I read handbook the month so I read way
22:16
more than the average person but the reality it
22:19
that I’m speak from my own experiences then i would tell any my clients or
22:24
anybody else
22:25
did you what I’m not doing everything all day so
22:28
yeah I’m making a commitment I’m making the decision
22:31
i’m following for you I’m and doing what I need to do to inspire the world by
22:36
just being me Wow I love those stories are just
22:40
truly inspirational it that you have that the fortitude it to
22:44
but those things in place in fallen through and get what you want I love the
22:48
turnaround
22:48
you have to tell me that story sometime absolutely I
22:52
if someone wants to get your books or find out more about you or get in touch
22:57
with you how can they do that
22:58
and make it super simple everything is Andrea la Rionda com including the story
23:03
in video format
23:04
Ojo be RI EL
23:08
a Ario and dot com okay and what does that stand for
23:11
what is that so re lol is shemale enemy and then got a shock to not be a happy
23:17
to get me through the good times and the bad news yet and then
23:21
arianna and mail and it means Malati SR musical
23:25
and I have a tendency to talking thing almost all day every day so
23:30
that like Ingram great alright at I think there’s some hidden meaning in
23:34
there for sure
23:34
at Ashby for me all the time like change near company it’s ok of cocaine and Mike
23:39
and Bob changing anything about it because they have significant meaning
23:43
for me
23:43
yeah absolutely and its unique you know Zachary get unit infused with somebody
23:48
so
23:49
huge no I’ll make sure to have a link in the show notes
23:53
to your site so that people can click on that and go right over there too and
23:56
and check you out is there anything at that you would like to cover debt
24:00

24:16

24:19
handled
24:22
okay it’s time for the sassy girl exercise tune up with my good friend
24:26

24:40
yes thanks for coming back to help us with our exercises make sure getting
24:44
the most out of them when we talk about this week so this week we’re talking
24:47
about
24:48
the mechanics of pushups okay in it i wanna talk about just
24:52
glaring at the elbows Anna sky clearing up the nostrils but
24:57
it’s not the nostrils Noel hadn’t batted
25:00
all not okay so internally rotate your hands like turning inwards causing be
25:06
able to play out
25:07
but many times when people put their hands straight
25:11
they still where their elders our mom and
25:14
leave power and make it impossible to
25:18
create Noah upgrading the network throughout
25:21
cheney cell don’t do that your
25:24
up all closer into the body and if they like 45 degree he doesn’t have to be
25:28
straight out your elbows don’t need to be in line the shoulders and they don’t
25:31
have to be right next to the body I would think someone and then I’ll
25:34
happy find a happy medium okay as perfect so again I’m going to experience
25:38
them before I’ve
25:39
I flared my elbows out and it seems like it gets
25:43
easier in terms of the the push-up mechanics
25:46
and I have my elbows read against my body it’s a lot harder and it also feels
25:50
like I might
25:51
be ready to hurt myself in saudi out when your elbows are in close
25:55
you’re working your triceps yeah I think that’s where
26:00
but yeah course if you bring yourself to low you’re gonna puts stress on your
26:04
shoulders and you’re not probably put stressing your low back
26:07
cell ray Routh out just a little bit away from the body there have to be an
26:11
real tight
26:12
awesome that’s perfect will thank you so much for that that’s that’s a great
26:16
thing for us to work on this week

18:14
to keep myself going for thirty-mile then to exercise my body for 17 weeks to
18:20
prepare for something that’s going to take more
18:22
willpower than its gonna take up you know
18:25
being fit right it’s gonna be a mental thing at at a certain poin
