9 Things You Need To Know About Liquid Dive Resort in Dumaguete

Liquid Dive Resort Review

Want to know how it feels like to go on an Eat, Sleep, Dive… Live lifestyle? Want to engage in a friendly conversation with like-minded travelers over family style dinners after a day of world class dives?

The King of Sinulog is off to Liquid Dive Resort (resort info), a custom-made PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Resort based in Dauin, a 15 to 20 minute drive from Dumaguete City. The resort is located down a winding – slightly bumpy – access road which leads to a quiet remote wide beach with its coast known for world class muck diving, facing Siquijor Island, with a view of Apo Island where you can see turtles, rays and of course schools of fish and the spectacular Mount Talinis as the resort’s natural backdrop. Here are nine more things you need to know about Liquid Dive Resort.

Liquid is a resort built around a dive shop, not the other way around.

Liquid Resort (reviews) offers an array of courses from beginner to professional. For young divers who want to blow some bubbles in the safety of the pool, there’s the Bubblemaker Course. For those who just want to give diving a try, there’s the Discover Scuba Dive Course. They also offer the Open Water Course, the most popular diving course world-wide. For those who want to go deeper, last longer or do it at night, then there’s the Advance Diver Course. There’s also the Rescue Diver Course that teaches you how to help a diver in distress, prevent problems and learn to take charge and of course you may also learn basic CPR and first aid while you’re at it.

For those looking for specialty courses, they teach digital underwater photography, shark aware course, peak performance buoyancy course and night diving to name a few. They also have e-learning programs, dive master and instructor packages.

By the way, Liquid also received the PADI Green Star Award for environmental conservation efforts, and supports Project AWARE by donating on behalf of every student completing a course with Liquid.

Liquid Dive Resort has a restaurant that offers a nightly 3-course family-style dinner for all guests and a poolside garden bar with daily Happy Hour specials and friendly conversations

The family-style dinner is actually quite effective since they’ve had guests who started out as strangers, but went back to the resort the second time around for their honeymoon. The set dinner offers a starter, a choice between two main courses and a heavenly dessert. For their breakfast menu, they have cereals, the simple choice for those on a diet and the diver’s choice for those needing extra fuel the whole day. For their lunch offering, they have ala carte locally-sourced Filipino-style dishes. They also have seasonal salads at PHP195 and all day fresh fruits at PHP 150 a plate. A typical meal for two would cost around PHP600.

Liquid Bar is open from 7AM to 11PM offering a variety of drinks from sodas to smoothies. It also offers an extensive cocktail list such as the funky monkey, painkiller, vodka paralyzer at more or less PHP 200 a glass and shooters such as alien brain hemorrhage, cement mixer and squashed frog at more or less PHP120 a shot. I bet you want a taste of Liquid heaven!

Liquid Dive Resort is the original ‘flashpacker’ style resort built on a natural hot spring.

With eight beach front cottages with ceiling fans, large balconies, private bathrooms with natural hot spring water showers and also WIFI in the rooms, the resort caters to the modern traveler that can do without a television, a mini-bar or a private butler. You got to admire the resort’s eco-friendliness as almost everything is made from abundant local materials such as nipa, bamboo and amacan up to the beachfront villas and everything within. They’re also aware of the fire hazard of these light materials which is why they consulted with the local fire department for necessary precautions.

The showers however are not temperature-regulated. Sometimes it will be hot, other times it will be cool. Check the water temperature first before you stick your head in. There is also fresh water for the showers to adjust the temperature. Also, the water is not potable.

Liquid Resort also caters to non-divers through land-based tours.

Easy destinations such as Balanan Lake, Casaroro Falls, Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes and Bais Dolphin and Whale Watching and a day tour to Sumilon Island are available. But if you’re more of an adventure junkie, you can go canyoneering in Kawasan Falls, hike to the extreme summit of Mt. Talinis or to Talinis Twin Falls. However, liability releases and a certain level of fitness is required for this since it involves climbing and long strenuous walks.

During low tide you can see hot spring vents off the beach in front of Liquid Resort.

Look for the orange rocks and beware because it is hot. Also, let the resort know if you’re going in for a dip as you will be charged PHP50 for the sanctuary fee from the local municipality. It is perfectly safe to go swim and snorkel although at low tide, it is quite rocky so you need to be careful. Ask for booties if you have tender feet. Another thing worth mentioning is that the grayish sand on the beach sparkles during noon time, better keep an eye out for it.

Liquid Resort Dumaguete offers a natural hot spring bath in a private Zen villa.

A chance to soak on your own private natural hot spring European style bath, locally, the water is famed for its magical healing properties. For PHP800, you can avail of this relaxing hot bath for 30 minutes. Other services include Shiatsu (finger pressure), Foot Reflex, Swedish and Thai massage at PHP800 to PHP1000 price range.

Why the name Liquid?

After being in the diving industry for about 15 years, Zoe and her husband decided that this was what they’re gonna do for the rest of their lives. Eventually, they were able to build their own dive resort and called it liquid since their lives always focused around water, be it swimming, diving or happy hour drinking. There’s liquid involved from morning until late evening and if there’s one word to describe Liquid Dive Resort, that word would be, an escape.

How to get to Liquid Dive Resort?

Assuming you are already in Dumaguete then you have a few options. For a hassle-free travel, you can arrange a private transfer for PHP700 one way per van from Robinson’s Mall Dumaguete, a hotel or landmark of your choice. Another option is to ride a local tricycle costing around PHP350 one way. Tell the driver to drop you off at Liquid Dive Resort based at KM12.5 Bulak, Dauin. The cheapest yet most challenging option would be to ride a public multi-cab from the belfry tower to Dauin at PHP17 per passenger one way then hop off the first access road to the left after Dauin Bridge at a Petron Gasoline station on the corner and walk about a kilometer to the resort.
