Remember this free Spring printable that I shared a few weeks ago? Well since getting my new Cricut Explore machine I have been dying to upload my own image and see how it works to cut it out.  So I decided to turn my printable into a stencil for a plaque…but there was a major project fail that happened, but it turned out even better than I had anticipated.

log into www.Cricut.com/Design to get started

Click on the blue Create New Project button

On the far left, click upload image

Click on basic upload to upload a jpg, png, gif or bmp then select your image from your computer

Choose how complex of an image you are uploading and select the appropriate button (wait while the image processes, could take a few seconds)

Name and save your image

Once uploaded you need to select the negative space and turn it transparent

You can use the zoom buttons to get in closer for the hard to get to places like inside the “e” or little dots inside my tree

Once done, your saved uploaded images will appear at the bottom of the upload screen. Select the image you want to use

Size and position the image as needed then cut!

So remember how I told you that it was a big fail at first? So I originally had cut it out as a stencil and painted it onto the plaque. But I left it on too long and when I took it off about half of the paint came off too. So I decided to just fill in all the space with more paint.  Then I cut the spring printable our in vinyl and applied it over the top. We may have lost an arrow in the process, so to fill in the blank space I put some ribbon over the top.

I love how it turned out, the imperfections are kinda awesome

I can’t wait to keep trying my own images on my new cricut!!
