I received these books in the mail and was very excited! They are beautifully photographed books filled with colorful and creative crafty ideas. I couldn’t wait to dive right in!
I spent a few hours over my weekend flipping through and jotting down the ideas for creating some really cool homemade gifts. These book provided tons of inspiration. Crafty creatures by DK Canada has wonderful and simple ideas for every level of ‘crafter’. I am a beginner and I adored this book. It is pages to page of colorful stuffed animals and step by step instruction on how to create them. My favorite was a sock monkey made out of a colorful pair of socks! The ideas seemed very doable. This book would be great for a crafty tween/teen and the beginner parents. It was simple, easy to understand and fun. The materials needed are easily found and affordable. The directions are concise and understandable. The book is beautifully laid out and the photographs are full of color, allowing for the idea to pop out of the page. I have great intentions on using this book more over the holiday season to create little toys of my little ones.
Handmade Gifts by DK Canada is a more complex crafting book. There is an array of diversity in the type of craft. They provide you with a step by step instruction on how to make 70 different idea, ranging from a mosaic bowl or a decoupage bangles to homemade truffles and flavored oils. This book is a little more in depth and I would recommend it to the more novice to advance ‘crafter’, but even as a beginner I felt inspired with this book. The ideas are creative, the photography is beautiful and the layout is organized and easy to navigate. My grandmother who is advanced ‘crafter’ of all things creative, loved this book! She skimmed through it at my place over thanksgiving and told me that there were tons of ideas that she wanted to try. She has read and purchased a lot of craft books and she said this was one of the best for creative inspiration.
I would highly recommend these books to anyone looking for a great gift for the creative ‘crafter’ in their lives. These books would make an excellent gift. I also think these books are a wonderful idea for anyone looking to create beautiful homemade gifts this years. These book will help you create wonderful gifts filled with love and beauty.
