Soaring solar enquiries for Formby firm following January ‘Feed in Tariff’ announcement
Eco Environments is reporting a record number of solar panel enquiries following the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s announcement on changes to the Feed in Tariff (FIT) scheme on 31 January 2014.
With tariffs set to reduce by 3.5% as a result of the automatic degression rule, Ofgem confirmed last week that the rates will change for solar installations under 50 kWp, affecting homeowners and small businesses. The reduction is due to the high levels of installations across the UK with Solar PV continuing to be the most popular household source of renewable energy.
From the Formby Business Park head office, latest reports from Eco Environments echo national trends with a 30% increase in new business enquiries since the announcement that will apply to systems that are installed on or after 1 April 2014.
Mark Buchanan, a Director at Eco Environments is calling for homeowners and businesses who are considering solar to act now to maximise rebates and believes that the surge in interest is also being buoyed by highly publicised rising energy prices and the company’s growing reputation as renewables experts.
Mark explains “With an opportunity to save on bills, get paid to generate clean electricity (even if you use it all) and enjoy tax-free returns that are index linked and guaranteed every year for 20 years, homeowners and business are now realising that they need to have an installation completed this quarter to lock in to the current rate.”
