More council services and transactions than ever before are available on Sefton’s new-look website.

Residents can access a range of information and support 24-hours a day via sefton.gov.uk

The site has been specifically designed to be more user-friendly and fully accessible via mobile phones and tablets.

Popular online tasks include checking bin collection dates, viewing planning applications, looking at the events diary, applying for a licence or reporting environmental issues.

There is also a secure payment service to pay council tax, business rates or parking fines.

With Sefton Council facing further substantial reductions in funding, it is estimated that thousands of pounds are saved when transactions take place online. These savings will help reduce the overall impact on other essential services including nursing care for the elderly and street cleansing.

Cllr Paul Tweed, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Performance, said: “The website has been redesigned to improve the layout, navigation and overall experience.

“We have also increased the number of online activities so residents can ‘self-serve’ and this achieves savings for the council at a time when resources are more stretched than ever.

“Users can rate pages by clicking on the thumbs up or thumbs down icons which provides feedback and helps us make further improvements. We are very keen to hear people’s views on how we can do things better and all constructive feedback is welcome.”
