George Orr book signing ‘Everton in the 1940′s ‘The Lost Decade’ at Broadhursts within Southport Flower Show 2013

George Orr will be at Broadhursts Book Sellers inside Southport Flower Show signing copies of his latest book ‘Everton in the 1940′s ‘The Lost Decade’ on Friday 16th of August. He will also be on hand to chat to any EFC fans about the club.

George is 65 and a retired factory worker. He has written books on Everton in the 1940′s, 60′s, 70′s & 80′s . George wrote in the Everton matchday programme for three seasons 1998-2001 doing articles on Everton Football Clubs History. I  was resident on BBC Radio Merseyside’s Blue Watch programme for 9 years 2001-2010. I then  produced the Everton Fanzine Blue Blood for ten years which ran for 100 issues.

He has also written the  History Of Skelmersdale and also given talks on the same subject. George is a member of the E.FC. Heritage Society which helps to trace long lost facts and information on the Club and also responds to enquiries from Fans about various subjects of Everton’s History.

The latest book is named Everton in the 1940′s ‘The Lost Decade.’ It covers the period from 1939 until the end of 1949. Dealing with a subject that has not been covered by anyone else. Documenting long forgotten Regional games, covering the May Blitz in Liverpool and how the War affected Everton Football Club and their fans. Plus a day to day documentation of the War as it progressed.

He has had a great response and has had many compliments on how good it is and how important it is in the History of Everton Football Club.

The book is a large format soft back containing 96,000 words and 266 pages. it retails at £14.95.
