We are looking for volunteers to join the team this summer holiday at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

There are currently over 150 volunteers who play a vital role in the running of our visitor services, school visits, grounds and reserve at Martin Mere. As we prepare for the summer holidays we are looking for more volunteers to help with pond dipping, craft sessions and nature explorer activities.

It is an ideal opportunity for students who are looking for something to do over the summer holidays. We are looking for people over 18 who enjoy being outdoors and relish the opportunity to engage with visitors and other team members.

Jane Barker, volunteer development officer said: “If you are stuck for something to do this summer and want to help with nature explorer activities, including pond dipping and crafts, being a volunteer at Martin Mere is a fantastic opportunity.

“We want to hear from people who are 18 years of age or over, happy to work in a team of staff and volunteers, welcome the opportunity to engage with our visitors and enjoy being outdoors.”

Interested applicants can email Jane at volunteer.martinmere@wwt.org.uk or call 01704 891224.

WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is a haven for a host of creatures such as otters, beavers, kingfishers, geese and swans. Watch birds from the shelter of our comfortable hides, enjoy an expert walk or talk, or simply watch the world go by in our cafe overlooking Swan Lake – there’s plenty to do at a Wetland Centre all year round.

WWT Martin Mere is open every day (except Christmas day) from 9.30am to 4.30pm in the winter months (until 30th March). Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6.  The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.  Visit the web site http://www.wwt.org.uk/martinmere to find out what’s on all year round at Martin Mere and the other eight WWT Wetland Centres.
