Indeed the UI is split into Fastlane and a tile-based launcher. The user preferences and personalization are having main propriety in the former and it is about notifications and also shows the opened applications. The other screen, accessible by swiping to the left or to the right, includes tiles that are analogous to Windows Phone, and some tiles could also be resized. On cursory performance testing and inspection:

There were no issues while navigating through Fastlane and the app launcher screens and no time delay was reported while launching apps. Detailed study is needed to report on multitasking functions and competencies and given average details, there are doubts expressed about its capacities to undertake high end graphic rich Android games.

On the whole, Nokia X seems to provide value for the R,8,599 paid for it and is indeed a handy budget item, boasting of rich haul of apps and services. It is functional, yet robust and could last more than expected.
