January – “One Stop Crock” Wildtree Freezer Meals

One of my goals this year is to contribute to my family’s cooking schedule. However, upon testing and reflection, I realized that I am not a cook. But I am tired of fast food and carry out meals.

Over the years, I’ve been most successful when I have done some kind of freezer cooking session. So, this year I am going to make 10 freezer meals each month.

You can read all about how I came to pick Wildtree as the freezer meals that I am using this year in this post.

Disclosure: I am a Wildtree rep and included affiliate links to the cooking products I use in this post.

So, I am going to be using Wildtree products to help me make my recipes. Shown in the photo above is the kit of products that I’m using for the “One Stop Crock” meals.

I chose this freezer meal recipe selection before the 2015 catalog came out, but this is one of the freezer meal kits that you could buy in the new 2015 catalog if you select the SKU number 10870.

You will use a little bit of chicken bouillon base, which is not included in the workshop freezer meal kit. So, you can either substitute your own chicken bouillon, or include that product when you place your order.

Here is a picture of the supplies remaining after I made the freezer meals. Since I am going to be cooking this way all year long, I want to know how much of each ingredient I’m going to use so that I don’t over order.

Here are the products used in the “One Stop Crock” meals and the quantities used of each.

Here are all the other supplies that I needed to buy to complete my freezer meals.

One of the recipes calls for cubed butternut squash, available in the freezer section of your grocery store. But I never found it. So we did not have butternut squash in that recipe.

Since I did not have the butternut squash when we were making the recipe, I added it to my grocery list using the any list app.

I am not a perfectionist. I am making these meals to provide healthy, warm, yummy meals for my family 10 nights per month. I say this because sometimes we get so hung up in doing things, and making them look perfect, that we forget about our end goal.

And my end goal is just for us to be fed.

Here are all of the items I had to purchase at the store.

These are the items I already had in my pantry and was able to use.

See those cute little wedges? That’s my favorite way to store spices.

Since Vanessa was here taking pictures anyway, I wanted to show you how they work.

If you flip open the bottom of the wedge, each click of the dial is one quarter of a teaspoon.

You can get yours at Amazon here.

It is my heart’s desire to have many of you experience the same time saving and tasty meals that I do. So, let me share with you the tips that I learned while creating these meals.

A few years ago I bought the bag holder. I use it every time I make freezer meals, and I even store my large Ziploc bags in this can when I am not using it.

If you are going to be making freezer meals each month, it would be worthwhile to invest in this.

I also love my Oxo liquid teaspoon measuring cup.

Luckily, my photographer, Vanessa, was with me when I made this set of meals, because I almost ran out of the Tia Rosa’s Red Enchilada Sauce. You will end up using the entire bottle of sauce in these recipes, and I was about an eighth of a cup shy in one of them.

So, Vanessa told me to add just a tiny bit of water to the bottle and put the lid on… and then I shook shook shook it.

And, voilà! I had just enough to complete the recipe.

So, we haven’t eaten all of these freezer meals yet. But I have to say that I am loving the ease and convenience of using these Wildtree freezer meals in my home.

And, the two foodies in the house, Abby and Greg, have given rave reviews for every single meal that I have pulled out and heated up from this batch.

Abby has even gone so far as to say that these are now her favorite meals above all other meals that she is able to pick from. And that is saying a lot!

I also have given a few of these meals away to friends who have had surgery, and so I have not been able to personally taste every single meal yet.

And I am so frustrated with myself! Every day I tell myself to take pictures of the meals when I make them at night. And every night I remember this… when I’m doing the dishes.

So I am so sorry, but I do not have pictures of us eating the meals.

I really thought that I would just be doing these freezer meals for myself, but I quickly realized that was not going to be the case.

I have told five people that I am making these freezer meals this year, and all five people asked me when they could come over and make them with me.

It was never my intent to start a freezer cooking workshop camp at my house. But I guess that’s what I’m doing.

So, if you live in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area and want to make these meals with me, here’s how this will work.

Just click on this link which will take you to a Signup Genius site where you can sign up for your freezer meal cooking session and pay for your supplies. I am allowing two weeks for sign up and two weeks for the supplies to be shipped to my house.
