In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock—or you don’t spend hours scanning fashion blogs until your eyes burn (we love our job!)—you should know that the early 2000s are back.

Our proof? The return of the Juicy Couture velour track suit—the ultimate closet staple of two-thousandsy “it girls,” from Paris Hilton to Brittany Spears to a pre-Kanye-post-sex-tape Kim Kardashian.

Usually rendered in bubble-gum pink or that nasty cotton-candy blue, the matchy-matchy track pants and zip-up hoodie combo was the RAGE when Caitlin was just a twinkle in Bruce Jenner’s eye. Often emblazoned with the word “Juicy” on the behind, it appeared in numerous music videos, on red carpets (we’re looking at you, Lindsay Lohan), and in movies such as “Mean Girls.”

Most likely due to tragic ubiquitous-ness, the track suit died a merciful death sometime mid-decade and everyone kicked them to back of their closets or marched them off (along with their low-rise jeans, cami-top tanks, and those little clips used for making twists in our hair) to Goodwill.

But as with everything fashion and style, what goes out of style comes back in (and before you ask, yeh, maybe you should have kept those cami-tops and low-rise jeans cause guess what …).

At the forefront of this, um, renaissance? Bloomingdale’s. This month, the retailer will be offering limited edition “classic” Juicy Couture track suits for women and girls. Happily, the 2016 model has been updated and refined.

Gone are the butt-printing and floppy silhouette. Look for “slim-fit hooded and stand collar jackets ($108), and slim- and flare-leg pants ($88),” say our friends at Bloomies. The color palette has matured as well, with an assortment of new hues that include Top Hat (black), Pitch Black (a slightly darker black), Golden Camel (I’m guessing a rich tan neutral), Bitter Olive (green), Pomegranate, and, yes, Whisper Pink. The same styles are offered for girls sizes 2 to 14, with jackets costing $62 to $68, and pants, $52 to $58.

This Juicy Couture Pop-Up shop opens July 15 at Bloomingdale’s Fashion Island, 701 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach. Or shop bloomingdales.com.
