Jim is correct. Currently, the open mike is scheduled to run from 7:15 or 7:30 PM and has a hard stop at 9:30 PM (+/- 5 minutes or so). It remains a great open mike, great listening venue in which to be "heard". Last night we had a full sign-up list. I set the sign-up list out at about 7:00 PM while I am setting up. Come early, and play more, at least until we reach open mike capacity with the shorter hours.

Now goes until 9:30PM. As with the Rochester Mills Brewery open mic, check ahead at Oasis to make sure no other events conflict with the usual scheduling that week.

Hey folks! Just a quick note . . . the Dessert Oasis Open Mike is cancelled for tonight only. The store is closed for the Memorial Day Holiday. We will recommence the weekly Open Mike Night next Monday, June 3rd, 7:30 to 10:00 PM.

I just returned from playing my first open mic at the Dessert Oasis. It's a good blend of ages and musical styles. It's run well, and was very entertaining. The audience was very attentive and appreciative. Definitely worth checking out. I'm planning on returning in a couple weeks.

Hi, Folks! Well, we lost a month of good times while the Dessert Oasis changed locations in downtown Rochester. Their new location is near 4th and Main one door south of the corner, next to Lytle Pharmacy. There is ample parking in the back, and of course on-street parking throughout downtown Rochester.
Monday, January 28th, is the date that Open Mike Night returns! Come on in for the coffees, other drinks, food and some outstanding local talent.

Well, I guess I jumped the gun . . . it appears that Dessert Oasis will not re-open at their new location on January 14th as they had indicated. As such, the open mike will be scheduled after the store is re-opened, which is coming along with week-by-week efforts of the remodeling crew and the owners. I hope to have it back up and running either on the 21st or the 28th of January 2013, for sure. Watch this space for updates. Sorry for any confusion this delay may have caused.

Hey folks! The Monday Night Open Mike at Dessert Oasis is back! After a 3 week respite while the store has moved from 205 South Main Street in Rochester, Michigan about 2 blocks north of the old location at 336 Main Street, next door to Lytle Pharmacy on the East Side of Main Street. The new store offers more floor space, easier parking and the same ambiance as before. Great local talent, superb coffee and desserts, and a whole lot of fun! Stop in to play, stop in to listen.

Just a note, the Open Mike will NOT be held on Monday, 11/26/12, only. It will resume the following Monday, 12/3/12, 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. So, take a week off after Thanksgiving and then come down again on the December 3rd!

This is a great open mike, and it is an especially great open mike to heard. The acoustics in the Dessert Oasis are significantly better than most coffee shop open mikes. I take great care to help everyone sound their best. Beginners and pros alike work well here. Small stage, so limited room for more than duets or trios . . . : - (

Come on down and show us what y-o-u g-o-t! We have a lot of fun at this open mike every week. Lots of great local, and not so local talent come by. Variable crowds, but this is warm, cozy environment to listen and to be listened to! Isn't that what open mikes are all about. Oh, and the coffee and sweet treats in this coffee cafe are excellent, too!

Please note, due to Laniappe in downtown Rochester, the open mike at Dessert Oasis will not be held on the evening of November 28th. It will resume on Monday, December 5th at the usual time of 7:30 PM and run until 10:00 PM. If you are interested,please note that Dessert Oasis uploads all performances to LiveDetroit.tv. The open mike performances are streamed and recorded and available for viewing for about 5 days after the performance.

As Jim notes below, the open mike at Dessert Oasis in Rochester, Michigan is alive and well. Come on down and join the fun!! The open mike remains 7:30 to 10:00 PM every Monday, with the occasional switch to a Tuesday if there is a Monday Holiday (like Labor Day, for instance).

There is live music several nights per week here, but the nights hosted by Ivan are the primary open mic nights at Oasis, which is a very fine place to visit, with absolutely superb coffee, desserts, and people.

Note to players, due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the open mike planned for Monday, May 30th, will instead be on Tuesday, May 31st, this one time only. Then we will go back to the weekly open mike on Monday evening from 7:30 to 10:00 PM.

Come on down! We have a good time each week! Format is for each person in the open mike to play two songs at at time. If there is time, and there usually is, we go down the list again. Great coffee and super desserts in a comfortable atmosphere with chairs and tables, couches and high tops to sit at too.

This is a very happening open mike in the Rochester, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Michigan area. Players and crowds vary, but we always have a great time. Musicians of all sorts are welcome, but the Dessert Oasis is a medium sized coffee and dessert shop - with outstanding coffee (some custom roasted on site), and a variety of delicious home made desserts.
