Does the Anchor Bar have any sort of website?

Comment from KIM CAMPBELL:

Can I use tracks to sing with?

by far the best comedy open mic in OC and maybe even all of SoCal. A supportive and intelligent environment where you can work out new material and expect it to be received fairly. Often quite a few non-comics wander in, and stay in, and a few are becoming regular audience members. The host is energetic and down to earth but doesn't steal the spotlight and has never put down another comic. If you haven't dropped into the anchor bar mic yet, or you've never even tried standup, but have always had the hankering to, drop into anchor bar on a Monday night and you'll be hooked for life.

Comment from Evan Cassidy:

One of the best comedy open mics in Orange County. Musicians welcomed as well! Free entry, all ages venue. $5 large pizzas for performers. Show STARTS at 7PM now. Sign ups are first come first serve, but first timers get an automatic spot. If you're a first timer looking to perform, message me - evan@dudelyjones.com

Comment from Jeremy Robertson:

Mic now starts @7:30 with a 7:00 sign up. It's a very popular (and rightfully so) mic so I recommend getting there a little early.

Comment from John Kaye:

Cinco de Mayo is open mic to musicians here !!! see you there. Smile I shoot photos to upload to this site !!!

I play @ a lot of different open mics, doing original Christian rock. Can I come and join in on the reindeer games? Female guitar player/singer, if that helps… LOL

Comment from rick:

anchor bar is a GREAT open mic! i'm a musician, i got to do 3 songs last night. had a blast! theres comedians, but they were all pretty funny. they all watched when the musicians performed and were respectful. this is one of the best mixed music/comedy open mic ive been to!

Comment from Evan Cassidy:

This open mic is *music and comedy* now. To Ms Any - comedians do NOT have to be pre-booked. All performers sign up at 7:30PM sharp. I co-host with Paul Hines. We'd love to see you down there this Monday!

Comment from Ms Any:

Do comedians have to be prebooked?

Comment from Mr Hip:

really good point by Robby. open mics are for everybody, the good, the bad, and the ugly, be it a comedian a mucisian a belly dance etc… but I respect any one that has the guts to go on stage cause it does take some guts and some times an act (music or othewise) can be so bad that it becomes hilariously entertaining.

Comment from Robby Ravenwood:

To BB1070 As a musical comedian I guess I dislike the idea that at open mics were supposed to “face it -comedians are terrible” - Frankly being both a musician and a comedian I’ve heard MANY a terrible "musician" at open mics too. Open mics are where performers go to be terrible – so the first off note you sing you should be banished I guess – then open mics would be a bunch of people listening to the crickets ( not Buddy Holly either)

Comment from BB1970:

I really like the Anchor Bar as a venue for open mics. It's small, intimate and works well with the acoustic performers. The decor is a sort of red tiki lounge motif. Food is served from the upstairs pizza joint and there are performer specials. The host Paul is a fair-minded person and his PA is a comprehensive system with a monitor and stage tuner, a nice addition that many open mics fail to provide. Performers are allowed two songs but if it's a light evening, the list cycles around fairly quickly and you can do more on the next turnaround. I've been attending for a few weeks and the program appears to be that it's acoustic based, but one comedian comes in to sort of headline. I'm not a big fan of comedy at open mics because, let's face it, they're usually terrible. However, I'll confess that having one comedian does break up the evening nicely and then return to the acoustic program. There's plenty of parking, it's a safe area, and so far, I haven't had a bad time there as of yet.

Comment from stacy_jones:

i went to this open mic last monday. its a good place to just come and hang out! ;) the PA sounds awesome, there were lots of good singers. the hosts are chill and it's cool how they have a featured comic… ill prolly go back next monday! :D

Comment from Paul Hines:

This is an open mic catering mainly to acoustic musicians. There is a featured comic every week, but Comics must be scheduled performers.
$5.00 gets performers dinner and a drink, so come hungry, please
