What was your first job?

I worked cleaning houses and babysitting when I first moved to Toronto.

Best advice for people getting started in your industry?

Create a brand that truly represents your style and passion. Seek inspiration from people you admire and follow. Once you put in the hard work and create a gallery or portfolio, don’t be afraid to reach out, to ask questions, never underestimate the power of asking.

What are your favourite media outlets, not including your own?

Pinterest is my google and fashion magazines are my bible. I listen to all kinds of music, from my new favorite band Black Pistol Fire to The Weeknd, Drake and Spanish music (Maluma and Shakira).

Three of your favourite accounts to follow on Instagram?
@sincerelyjules, @amberfillerup and @harlowandsage

Best interview you’ve ever had?

My favorite interview has to be a collab with Peace Collective where I share my very personal story and journey.

Worst?

I won’t mention any names but it was frustrating to work with a brand that wanted me to do shots 25 times because everything I was providing them with wasn’t what they were asking. I delivered but will never work with them again. It was very clear from the beginning they wanted to get as much content as they could because they ended up using all the “not good enough” photos in their account. That was sad to see but oh well, you live and you learn.

What rule(s) do you live your life by?

Dream big, work hard, play nice.

I hate?

Competition, passive aggressiveness and cattiness.

I love?

To support, love, celebrate and lift others.

You’re boarding a plane tomorrow. Where are you headed?

My country, El Salvador. My father and most of my family are there and I haven’t seen them in five years. I am actually visiting in a couple of months.

Favourite Kardashian/Jenner?

Khloe, she’s real, funny and does not care what people say or think and always does her own thing.

Who would be cast to play you in the movie version of your life?

Lucy Hale. Love her and people tell me we kind of look alike so I’ll take it as a compliment!

Binge-watching?

Shameless, Botched, Kardashians and anything Real Housewives. I love to be entertained and these shows distract me and make me laugh.

Reading?

I read in Spanish a lot. One of my favorite books is PAULA by Isabel Allende. It’s such a beautiful book about a mother’s love. That is why I named my daughter Paula. I am also obsessed with the Coveteur. It is the best combination of fashion, personal style, beautiful visuals and home décor. I love Stephanie and Jake, the authors. I have had the pleasure of meeting them and I have been a fan of theirs for a long time. The best part, they’re both from TORONTO!

Role model?

My mother hands down. She was a kind soul, very strong and a hard worker. She taught me to take make myself whole and go after my dreams so I could be the best example to my daughter.

Song of the moment?

John Legend’s “Love Me Now” and Taylor and Zane’s “I Don’t Want to Live Forever”

Favourite app?

Zara! It’s so dangerous but oh so easy to use. I am also obsessed with UNUM its an app that lets you do a grid of your upcoming Instagram photos and schedule your posts. You can move the images around to see what your gallery will look like. It’s addicting and great for planning content.

One thing you can’t live without?

My family: my husband Gavin is my rock, my daughter Paula is my motivation and my pups Carmen and Bailey are the lovely cherries on top.
