n Association With The Clinical Leadership Team, And Through A Collaborative Role With Other Members Of The Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team, And According To Established Policies And Procedures, The CNL Role Provides Horizontal Leadership Accountable For The Management Of Care And The Care Environment Through Knowing The Patient, Communication And Lateral Integration Of Care.

Serves As A Change Agent To Translate And Integrate Evidence Into Practice; To Design And Evaluate Care And Improve Outcomes.

In Addition To Generalist Preparation In Nursing With Enhanced Clinical Skills, The CNL Is Primarily Unit Or Setting Based And Is Responsible For Coordination Of Care For A Specified Cohort Of Patients Within A Micro-System.

The Number Of Patients For Which The CNL Is Responsible Depends On The Health Care Setting And Patient Nature And Complexity. The Mix Of Nursing Personnel Required In Acute Care Is A Function Of The Nature And Quantity Of Work That Must Be Accomplished On A Particular Unit.

In His Or Her Day-To-Day Practice, The CNL Develops An Overall View Of Patients, Families And Caregivers And Establishes Strong Partnerships With Them To Deliver Optimal Care.

The CNL Has 24-Hour Accountability For The Care Provided By Self And Others To Whom Care Is Delegated.

Position Requirements

Skills / Industry Qualifications Required:

•Graduate Of An Approved, Accredited School Of Nursing And Completion Of A Master's Degree In Nursing With An Emphasis On The Clinical Nurse Leader Role And Required Competencies.

Preferred:
•Extensive Clinical Knowledge Of The Patient Population Is Preferred But May Be Acquired Over Time Under Mentorship Of Senior Staff.

Licensed Registered Nurse; Must Complete CNL Certification Within 6 Month.

Preferred:
•ACLS/TNCC/ENPC/PALS/NALS Or Other Technical Certifications As Per Area Assigned Within 12 Months.
•Three Years Acute Care Nursing Experience.
•Progressive Experience In Health Care Including Involvement In Direct Patient Care, Educating Staff, And Problem Solving Of Unit Or Organizational Issues.

Demonstrated Ability To Work Productively And Effectively Within A Complex Environment, Handle Multiple/Changing Priorities And Deal With Stresses Associated With A Patient Care Environment Such As Emergencies, Time Pressures, Varying Patient Emotions/Attitudes/Conditions, Etc.

Advanced Critical Thinking Skills.

Ability To Identify Improvement In Clinical Operations And Implement Change And Willingness To Challenge Established Ways Of Doing Things In A Constructive Way. Ability To Lead, Mentor And Develop Staff.

Exemplifies A Strong, Positive Attitude Toward Internal And External Customers And Continuous Service Improvement.

Analytical Ability To Define Unit Or Service Procedures, To Independently Oversee The Application Of Methods, Guides And Processes, To Apply Sound Judgment In Choosing Proper Course Of Action Among Multiple Option, To Interpret Policies, To Assists In Planning Short To Mid-Range Goals And Determining Measures, And To Assess And Monitor Progress Toward Unit Goal Attainment.
