About Venture Academy:
Venture Academy’s mission is to build entrepreneurs by developing the independence, scholarship, and leadership of young people. Venture Academy is currently serving 200 students in grades 6-8, and will be expanding to 9th grade in the 2016-2017 year. Venture Academy opened in 2013 and is located right off the Green Line near the University of Minnesota in Prospect Park. Our model is a blend of personalized, self-directed, digital, experiential and project-based learning designed to spark the motivation of diverse middle school learners. As we grow, we seek a few more adventurous and fun educators to join our team.

Responsibilities:
● Plan and deliver a blended curriculum of standards-focused content
● Lead classes through experiences and lessons, as well as project-based and personalized learning
● Analyze multiple forms of student achievement data and implement differentiation strategies to drive student success
● Inspire students to apply their own creativity and interests to their work
● Apply entrepreneurial practices to innovate and implement solutions to classroom issues
● Inspire students to “go beyond” the classroom whenever possible
● Support, guide, and encourage the development of student/staff entrepreneurial ventures
● Work with a group of students as a mentor teacher, helping students track their progress in their Personalized Learning Plan
● Attend and participate in evening and weekend family events (conferences, student showcases) and Saturday school throughout the school year
● Report hours are 8:00 am-5:15 pm, with additional hours as needed for meetings/activities
● Weekly team/content/community meetings
● Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Skills / Industry Qualifications Required:

● Minnesota teaching license (traditional or alternative pathways both welcome)
● Bachelor’s degree or higher
● Demonstrated success working with students, preferably low-income and students of color
● Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
● Knowledge and understanding of Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards, learning theory and practice,
curriculum, interventions and programming
● Demonstrate the ability to organize and synthesize verbal and written data
● Respond quickly to a variety of stakeholder requests and manage timelines
● Work cooperatively and effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment with various staff and related service
providers
