Recently Olivia got some really exciting news and for the first time in a really long time showed some enthusiasm for this little blog of ours. You see, she, well we, were invited to be part of the Hasbro Toy Tribe! How exciting is that please! There were squeals of epic proportions, from her not me, and at one point I swear only dogs could hear her! As part of the Toy Tribe we get invited to try out and review some of the new and upcoming toys Hasbro are releasing. Our first task was to put the new My Little Pony SugarCube Corner play set through it’s paces. RRP £19.99 this set is available to buy now for all My Little Pony Fans to add to their collection. As well as the Sweet Shoppe shop front, you also get the Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich figures too and some accessories to help you create some fabulous stories and adventures for them both to get up to! Olivia loved this set and as you can see in the picture directly above (bottom of the collage) she added in a few of the ponies she already has herself. She spent hours playing with it. Attaching and taking off some the accessories onto the sweet shoppe. As you can see it is only small and just the front fascia of the shop not whole store. At first I was a bit disappointed but after seeing Olivia play with it I can see why it is supplied the way it is. As you can probably tell most of the ‘action’ takes place around the back and ‘inside’ the store. There is so much attention to detail on the actual sweet shop itself to give a real authentic My Little Pony feel to it and Olivia made no comments about it not looking right or being wrong. Trust me if this turned up looking even slightly different from the My Little Pony she is used to she will make it known! It is also much more sturdier than it looks. In the box it looks to be quite flimsy and I had concerns Olivia would break it. It proved me wrong. Obviously if it is handled roughly it will break but for what it is designed for, it really isn’t too flimsy and doesn’t appear to feel like it’s all that easy to break. The Sugar Cube Corner Sweet Shoppe is only a small set but if your little one is a fan and has convinced you to build your very own Ponyville then this set will fit right in. Olivia is now making room on her unit and this is currently being moved into what was formerly Barbie’s Dreamhouse Garage! I may need a bigger house! This set does contain some very small parts so you need to think carefully about this if buying for younger children but for Olivia and older children it is a lovely little set. Verdict. Of course it is a big thumbs up from Olivia. She absolutely loved it. Would I buy it? Probably yes. Or to be honest I would probably let Olivia buy it with her own money and not persuade her to buy something else. We have quite the figure/doll collection going on in our house and if I feel it’s not value for money it won’t be purchased but I would let her get this to add to my ‘retirement fund’ (is how I affectionately refer to her doll collection it is that extensive) Currently on sale in Argos for £19.99 but you can get it right now (day of posting this review) for half price at Toys R us £9.99 *Disclaimer: We were provided with the above mentioned playset as part of the Hasbro Toy Tribe.
