Hello, and welcome to another My Week on Wednesday!
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays, and holiday preparation! It’s been a little bit crazy around here with plays and concerts and dance recitals. But a good kind of crazy. The kind of crazy where you look at your little dancing Pixie and think, Could she get any cuter? and listen to the Boy playing his clarinet and wonder, Is it even possible that I made something that is that talented?
Not to mention the tear-jerking performance of Ebeneezer Scrooge at our school’s performance of A Christmas Carol. I don’t actually even know that kid — if it had been my kid up there, I’d still be recovering! 
But, anyway… I’m fairly certain that there is a lot of that going around. The craziness, I mean… maybe not the sobbing at an elementary school play.
Now I like to have my holiday shopping all wrapped up (pun totally intended) by our Yule Party. For one thing, it’s much easier to relax and have fun when I know that those last couple of gifts are not hanging out there… waiting to be made or purchased.
Plus we do exchange a few gifts at Yule.
But mostly it’s like setting your alarm clock for a half-hour before you actually have to get up. Or telling your perpetually late friend that you’ll meet her at the restaurant at noon… when you have no intention of actually showing up until 12:30. That way, when she shows up at 12:45, you’ve hardly waited at all.
I used to have that friend. Now I am sometimes afraid that I am that friend. (I think it has something to do with having children.)
