He began his television career as a title sequence creator and worked on the series ''Booker'', ''Renegade'', and ''Silk Stalkings''. In 1990 he made his directorial debut with an episode of ''America's Most Wanted''. He returned to ''Silk Stalkings'' as a director and helmed 9 episodes from 1991 to 1994. He also worked as a director on ''Renegade'', shooting 11 episodes from 1992 to 1995. In 1994 he directed the feature film ''Dead On'' and episodes of the series ''Dead at 21'' and ''Fortune Hunter''.

<p class="MsoNormal">After launching his career with a short film he directed that caught the eye of Harvey Weinstein, Ralph Hemecker quickly blazed the trailer of becoming a successful commercial, television and feature film director. From the beginning, he established a unique voice, guided by a keen visual eye and honed sense of genre, which has brought flavor to every project he's since touched.</p>

 

 



He helmed his first pilot in the 1995 to 1996 television development season, ''Pacific Blue''. During the season he directed episodes of ''Vanishing Son'', ''Strange Luck'', and ''Kindred: The Embraced''. He also directed the television feature ''Rolling Thunder'' in 1996.

<p class="MsoNormal">His directing resume includes series pilots for '''Roar''' at Fox (starring a then-unknown Heath Ledger), '''Lawless''' at Fox, '''Dead at 21''' at MTV, and, most notably, the two-hour pilot for TNT's massively successful, '''Witchblade''', of which he went on to write, show-run and executive produce for its two season duration.</p>

 

 



In the 1996 to 1997 development season he directed the pilots for ''Roar'' and ''Lawless''. He also joined the crew of ''Millenium'' as an episodic director for the first season. ''Millenium'' was created by Chris Carter. He also directed an episode of ''Mr. & Mrs. Smith''.

<p class="MsoNormal">Currently, he serves as a recurring director on both '''Once Upon A Time''' and '''Once Upon A Time In Wonderland''', the latter of which he directed the series pilot for.</p>



 



In the 1997 to 1998 season he directed two further episodes of ''Millennium'' and an episode for Carter's earlier series ''The X-Files''. In 1998 he directed the television feature ''Blade Squad'' and the film ''American Dragons''.

 



 



In 1999 he directed the television feature ''The Wonder Cabinet''. In 2000 he founded Mythic Films, a full service feature film, TV and commercial production company. Their first project was the television feature ''Witchblade'', for which Hemecker served as the director. The project was based on a comic and a television spinoff was also commissioned. Hemecker served as the Executive Producer and show runner for the project. He co-wrote and directed the series pilot. The show lasted for two seasons from 2001 to 2002. He continued to write and direct frequently over its run.

 



 



After ''Witchblade'' he returned to television features directing ''Chasing Alice'' (2003), ''Haunting Sarah'' (2005), ''Fatal Desire'' (2006), and ''Angels Fall'' (2007). He joined the crew of ''Numb3rs'' as an episodic director for the fourth season in fall 2007. He returned to direct a further two episodes for the fifth season and three episodes of the sixth season. He also directed an episode of ''Ghost Whisperer'' in the 2009 to 2010 season. He directed the television features ''Midnight Bayou'' and ''Skyrunners'' in 2009.

 



 



In the 2010 to 2011 season he directed episodes for the series ''Vampire Diaries'', ''V'', and ''Nikita''.

 



 



He joined the crew of ''Once Upon a Time'' as an episodic director for the [[Season One|first season]] in the 2011 to 2012 television season. He helmed the episodes "[[7:15 A.M.]]" and "[[Hat Trick]]". He also directed an episode of ''NYC 22''.
