Cartoon historian Jerry Beck returns to the Wexner Center for the Arts to introduce a program of classic cartoons produced by the Walter Lantz Studio (best known for creating the iconic Woody Woodpecker, shown above in his first appearance from 1940’s “Knock, Knock”) and Universal. Lantz had a half-century career in animation that also saw him create such beloved characters as Andy Panda and Chilly Willy. This special screening is part of the inaugural Cartoon Crossroads Columbus, a citywide festival celebrating the diversity of the cartoon arts and their creators. The festival includes visits from Art Spiegelman, Kate Beaton, Jeff Smith, Jeff Lemire and many more. Details at cartooncrossroadscolumbus.com. Details on the Lantz event: go.osu.edu/LantzatWex.
