Eligibility Criteria

For Bachelor Programmes

For Master Programmes

The maximum age should be 23 years as on on 1st October, 2016.. The upper age limit may be stretched by the five years for the SC/ST/PWD candidates.

There is no age bar for the master programmes.

The candidates should pass the 12th or its equivalent examination from any recognized education board of India or its equivalent.

For M.Des and MFM the candidates should have bachelor degree from any recognized university. OR

For apparel production the candidates must have the Physics, Chemistry and mathematics in 12th

The candidates have the diploma in UG design or any UG diploma of minimum 3 years duration from NIFT/NID only.

The candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in 2016 are also eligible for the test.

For master of fashion technology the candidates should pass the Bachelor degree in same branch from NIFT or having the BE/B.Tech from any recognized university of India.

The candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in 2016 are also eligible for the test.

Admission Streams

Bachelor Programmes: The bachelors program as B.F.Tech., B. Des. in Accessory Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Leather Design, Textile Design, Apparel Production etc are provided.

Master Programmes: Like M. Des. (Design Space), M. F.M. (Fashion Management) and M. F. Tech. (Fashion Technology) are available.

Application Fee: applying candidates need to submit application through online by the payment gateway or through the Demand Draft in favour of “NIFT HO” payable at New Delhi.

Amount of Demand Draft as applicable i.e. Rs 1500/- in case of GEN/OBC (NonCreamy) candidates and Rs.750/- in case of SC/ST/PHP candidates

Method of Hiring: Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of result of written test GAT and CAT, B.Des candidates will be called for second test called Situation Test.

For B.F.Tech. GAT will be the final test for selection.

Candidates for M.Des will take GAT and CAT.

On the basis of result of GAT and CAT, in case of M.Des. and GAT in case of M.F Tech and MFM, candidates will be called for Group Discussion/Personal Interview.

Interested applicants should ensure for the examination that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria for admission. Their admission at all the stages of the examination for which they are admitted by NIFT viz. Written Test, Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview (as the case may be) will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. The admission of applicants will be done on the basis of performance in entrance exam.
