I’ll be honest. When I started blogging, I knew nothing about the blogging business. I had no idea how to get started, so I made many mistakes. I spent lots of money and got nothing of value in return. After about two years of little traffic, I took a short break from blogging. It was disappointing to put heart and soul into a project and have it go nowhere fast. The money I spent, too, bothered me. I knew other bloggers with similar niches had high traffic and were making money. Not me. I didn’t know how to turn things around.

After serious thought, I expanded my blog from pure food blogging to home and garden. This gave me the freedom to expand my niche and include some of my hobbies like cooking, crocheting, crafting, and gardening. I got serious and set out to learn the blogging business. That’s when I found Food Blogger Pro! I was so happy to find a community that covered all the basics of blogging that I needed to reinvent my blog.

What Is Food Blogger Pro?

Food Blogger Pro is an amazing website that teaches you how to start, grow and monetize your blog. Food Blogger Pro was founded by Lindsay and Bjork Ostrom, the couple behind the very successful food blog Pinch Of Yum. Learning all this was not the only benefit of joining Food Blogger Pro. It’s also home to a large community of bloggers who, like me, are interested in growing their blog. I made friends and connected with a bunch of awesome bloggers and industry experts in the community forums. If I’m ever stumped on a technical problem on my blog, I can post in the forums and someone will have some advice for me. How great is that? Bloggers helping bloggers is a great thing!

Food Blogger Pro has over 300, easy to follow tutorial videos and a very active community forum. The videos make it super easy to learn technical skills and apply them to your blog.

What Did I Learn?

I worked my way through the site using the course tracker. Even though my blog was already setup, I started with the first course on setting up a blog, then skipped around to fit my interests. I simply check off the courses I’ve completed on the course tracker as I progress through the course. It helps me stay focused on my goals.

These are some of the important things I learned that really helped me move my blogging career forward. I learned about:

Building traffic using social media, food sharing sites and Search Engine Optimization,

Taking drool-worthy photos in natural or artificial light,

Editing my photos using Photoshop and Lightroom,

Monetizing my site using ad networks and affiliate partnerships,

Using plugins to improve my blog and add functionality to my site,

Creating an e-book and sell it online, and

Using social media and email marketing to improve my traffic and engagement.

Can I Apply What I Learn to Niche Blogs?

Absolutely. Everything you learn about starting, growing, and monetizing your blog applies not only to food blogs, but also to other niche blogs. I apply the fundamental principles to my home and garden blog.

Is it worth my time?

You bet. In my opinion, Food Blogger Pro is well worth the investment. Complete the courses and watch your blog grow! I wish I had known about it sooner.
