Job Description

Provide and assure quality and timely EHS delivery to the Ghana Project per the EHS Project and Risk Management Plans. These plans will require updating for FEED by mid-2015. The position duration will be from the end of pre-FEED through commissioning and start-up.

Working with the Project organization to enable appropriate EHS leadership behaviors

Represent EHS on the Ghana Leadership Team and provide leadership, input into planning and project execution and provide coaching as appropriate to sustain top quartile EHS performance within the asset.

Work with the project management team to ensure that appropriate EHS leadership behaviors, and activities to foster these behaviors by company project team members and contractors, are demonstrated.

Develop and implement an EHS staffing plan. Subsequently manage a team of EHS professionals.

Ensure Risk Management deliverables (safety, environment and social) are completed and that recommendations and actions arising from these are implemented in a timely manner in order to influence the final design and ensure regulatory compliance. This will include oversight of the preparation of both Design and Operational Safety Cases as appropriate.

Ensure that relevant EHS regulations applicable to the design, construction and installation are identified and compliance assured. This will include providing oversight of the preparation of Permitting Timeline, Regulatory Plan and Assurance Plan and Regulatory Compendium.

Assure compliance with corporate policies through the application of the company EHS Management System.

Identify applicable external and internal EHS training requirements and facilitate their delivery to members of the Ghana Project Team.

Ensure appropriate participation in tendering process and conduct EHS Reviews of potential and existing contractors and serviced providers in accordance with company' Contractor Management Key Process.

Develop, project specific EHS Management strategies and plans and assure their implementation.

Reviewing all significant incidents reported by the project, and its contractors, and ensuring investigations are completed as required, action items address the immediate and root causes and are completed as planned.

Prepare an audit and assurance program for the Project. This will include strategies to ensure contractors comply with their managements systems in delivering the design, construction and installation.

Conduct regular visits to design offices and onshore fabrication yards (in US and international locations) and offshore installations as part of a planned audit and assurance process

Work with company Occupational Health team to ensure risks associated with West Africa travel and residency are managed appropriately.

Skills & Experience

The scope of the project is such that this position will require extensive large project experience in a leadership role either internationally or within the Gulf for Mexico. This position requires a very high degree of technical competency (technical risk and execution), political acumen as well as strong organizational and leadership skills.

The candidate must possess the ability to think strategically and engage collaboratively with stakeholders and business partners in order to create the necessary pre-conditions for the achievement of a top quartile EHS design and execution result.

Ability to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance and demonstrate innovation in implementation of EHS initiatives

Technically proficient in Hazard and Risk Management - familiarity with the development of a Safety Case is highly desirable.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Resilient - able to handle a highly dynamic work environment

Effective communication skills

Strong preference for extensive industry experience. Experience should include leadership roles for large, offshore projects.

Bachelor's degree required; engineering or EHS related discipline is preferred

This is a contract position.

The rate for this position is negotiable.
