Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Pressure Systems Engineer, based in Tees Valley.

Job Description

Ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all piping, pipeline, vessel, and heat exchange systems throughout the plant. Ensure pressure systems regulatory compliance.

The role requires understanding of key engineering principles to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve them effectively and will involve working closely with the maintenance team.

Provide the first line of technical expertise on piping, pipeline, vessel and heat exchange systems in support of the profitable operation of the plant. The key drivers being safety, reliability and plant availability.

Develop and implement a risk based inspection program which supports safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The inspection program should be cost effective whilst ensuring pressure systems regulatory compliance. Through regular review, ensure that the inspection program is updated to reflect experience and any new requirements.

Resolve inspection findings in a way that supports plant availability whilst satisfying regulatory bodies and maintaining safety.

Explore and where appropriate, implement new technology solutions to enhance the cost effective way in which the mechanical integrity of the plant is maintained.

Resolve any issues associated with piping, vessels and heat exchange systems. This is likely to include designing and supervising repairs.

Provide the pressure systems technical review for any equipment or plant modifications in accordance with the Management of Change procedure.

Develop and own specific tools for the life cycle management, condition tracking of refractory systems and inspections

Skills & Experience

Engineering degree and considerable experience working in the field of pressure systems in industries such as power, chemical, steel, oil and gas.

Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills across all levels (technical and non-technical)

The ability to troubleshoot and make good and timely decisions in a pressurised situation.

Able to make high quality decisions on what action should be taken.

A good working knowledge of design, materials strength, corrosion, fatigue, creep, welding, fabrication, standard non-destructive test methods (e.g. Radiography, Ultrasonics, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant), specialist non-destructive test methods (e.g. Advanced Ultrasonic Inspection Methods, Eddy Current, Acoustic Emission).

A good working knowledge of certifications issues. (Including the essential requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive).

An understanding of the management, monitoring and repair of refractory systems.

Experience in design and an in depth understanding of the engineering principles on which the various codes of construction are based in order to make professional assessments.

Practical experience in fabrication is also required, particularly when formulating or assessing repair procedures

Flexibility in terms of changing priorities, workload and working hours

This is a contract position.

The rate for this position is negotiable.
