Project Overview/Role Description
Contracts Manager Harwell, Oxfordshire £300 - £375 per day 6 month contract

Our client, a nuclear site, are looking for a Contracts Manager to add to their highly skilled procurement team based on site at Harwell, Oxfordshire.

Objective
The Contracts Manager will work with the project team to ensure that contract packages are specified, tendered and managed on a timely basis, in line with the overall requirement of the project schedule and available funding, to optimise risk transfer, project deliverable and overall value to the programme. The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager, with functional accountability to the Head of Contracts.

Deliverables
Main Responsibilities * Develop an optimised procurement and contract management plan to meet the key project objectives and timescales, consistent with the legislation. * Progress the specification of requirements and the preparation of the contract documentation for all the tendered packages within the procurement plan. * Manage the contract tender, evaluation and award processes in line with management procedures, ensuring awarded contracts have clear scope, deliverables, governance and appropriate risk transfer with the supply chain. * Work with the project team following contract award to optimise the value to the client through effective management of the contract terms associated governance. * Work with the project team to ensure early warning notices and compensation events are managed and acted upon in a timely and cost effective manner. * Ensure appropriate reporting and record keeping for all contract activities, including timely reporting to the Project Manager and Head of Contracts, any issues that require their attention. * Work with the Strategic supply manager to develop appropriate supply chain strategies.

Essential/Desirable Skills
Essential Aptitudes & Experience * Degree qualified, ideally CIPS or other recognised qualification * Working background in defining and managing engineering procurement programmes under the EU procurement regulations and using the NEC contract form. * Well developed influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across highly qualified multi-disciplinary teams, to tight timescales. * A strong track record of contracts management, and category management. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. Desirable Aptitudes & Experience * An appreciation of the challenges and opportunities that apply to supply chain management in a highly regulated industry. * Experience of working in a highly regulated and sensitive stakeholder environment * A pro-active flexible approach
