ACE Winches are looking to recruit an experienced Software Controls Engineer to be responsible for specification/design/coding/checking of electrical/electronic/control systems in accordance with relevant ACE and international standards and production of related parts list whilst supporting Manufacturing and participating in site commissioning activities when required
Key Requirements
You will be degree qualified in an appropriate Engineering based discipline (typically accredited by lEE). Ideally candidates will hold a Masters Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Software, and have attained CEng status or working towards it.
You will be experienced with a foundation knowledge of industry standard PLC/SCADA equipment, the functions they perform and in the full software development life cycle. You will hold a working knowledge of industry standard communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus and Profibus and how to implement interfaces between software and hardware. Proven relevant experience in a similar industry and working with high voltage electrical switchgear and drive control equipment is preferred, along with having a sound knowledge of experience in the application of the latest relevant IEC standards and statuary legislation such as BS7671, IEC 61508, IEC 61511. Previous supervisory experience especially within the Maritime, Oil and Gas or similar industries would be advantageous.
You will be capable of producing technical & functional specifications and developing control software from concept through to testing and commissioning. Hold knowledge of designing software for complex systems in machine control & process applications.
It is anticipated that you will be competent in the use of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Ideally you have previous experience of using ABB, Rockwell and Siemens PLC/SCADA equipment/software. Essentially you are an effective communicator and work with others amicably whether working on own initiative or as a team member. You will be accustomed to meeting tight deadlines in a calm and competent manner.
Job Description
Carry out work as directed by the Engineering Manager Obtain quotes from suppliers and formulating/technically approving purchase requisitions/orders as required for final approval by the Engineering Manager
Construct and maintain Parts Lists for all current and ongoing projects
Construct detailed electrical/electronic/control circuits
Construct system functionality descriptions
Ensure ATEX markings are correct on equipment name plates
Report relevant information to Line Manager on a daily basis
Produce/approve commissioning procedures for electrical/electronic/control systems
Attend and input at departmental and project meetings
Attend Client technical meetings as required
Liaise with 3rd party Design Verification authorities as demanded by the contract
Approval and signing of electrical drawings/documents
