MUNICH, GERMANY – The annual club-concert of the German ESC-fan-club waits in the wings already. On January 23rd the OGAE Germany club meeting takes place in Munich. At the location “Wirtshaus zum Isartal” (Brudermühlstraße 2) an ESC-album sharing-market opens at 1 p.m. On a big video-screen are footage shown of the ESC in Vienna. An ESC-karaoke-contest is open to everyone and other surprises complete the afternoon. In the evening the headline performance is Katja Ebstein. She is called the “Grand Dame of German ESC”. After finishing in Amsterdam 1970 and Dublin 1971 third, she made a second place in Den Haag 1980. The song “Theater” is still an evergreen in Germany. But there are more national and international ESC-stars on stage that evening. “Silver Convention” was a successful female trio with “Munich-Sound”, a subgenre of “Disco-Music” in Germany. They represented Germany in London 1977 and are back on stage in original cast. Last not least the Maltese super-star Chiara performs on stage, brought small Malta a second and third place in ESC and a touristic focus on these beautiful islands.
