So, all week long we've been talking about people, recipes and ideas that I believe in, and I figured this was the perfect opportunity to give you a little glance at what I believe in as a Mormon, or as we call ourselves, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I know that religion is a sacred and personal thing and I'm hoping that we can all be respectful of that.
A food blog is generally about food. Occasionally I like to talk about favorites, health, fitness, travel etc, but one thing I don't ever really talk about is myself. I guess it's because I am so busy talking about everything else I don't really have a a good place to get personal.
Oh, religion. Something that is usually connected with messages of peace and hope (I know ours is), but instead generally brings up negativity and judgments. I get it, "Mormons" aren't very well understood by many people. You see, I recognize that many could care less what religion I am, but I also know that there is a lot going on about the Mormons today, and unfortunately there are a lot of misconceptions about the church. Instead of looking for answers on the internet or from people who are not members and may not have correct information (and I only mean that if you have only been hearing things and you've never done the research yourself you may not have correct answers) I wanted to provide an opportunity to find out for yourself what we believe directly from the source.
Now don't worry, this is not going to turn into a religious blog, I'll be going right back to food, glorious food,
but for now, I just wanted to share with you a little project called, "Why Are Your Favorite Bloggers Mormon?" You don't have to participate, you wont be called, emailed, have missionaries sent to your door etc, but if you would ever like to know more about why I believe what I believe as well as about 30 others, you can request a packet that includes our testimonies and a Book of Mormon so you can find out the truth for yourself. It wont cost you money. You don't have to do anything at all about it. But, if you're curious, I just want everyone to know that you don't have to feel uncomfortable with being curious, and I promise we have nothing at all to hide.
Nothing brings my family more peace and happiness than the gospel of Jesus Christ. I, along with all of these other wonderful bloggers are more than happy to tell you exactly why.
Here's how it works:

Along with the blogger packet, you will find our favorite scriptures, the ones that have personally touched our lives, along with a free Book of Mormon. Why the Book of Mormon too? Well, it would be impossible to really understand us without it. It is a major part of our religion, our lives...and part of WHY we are Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is the ancient records of prophets who lived in the Americas before, during and after Christ’s time on earth.
In the meantime, if you want to find out more you can visit Mormon.org to find out our basic beliefs. And we personally love to watch, I Am Mormon and Mormon Messages. Both are sweet little messages about who we are and messages of hope, peace, marriage, divorce, addiction, death etc. No matter if you are LDS or not, these short videos are awesome. Cade and I especially love, Good Things to Come, You're never alone, Come What May and Love It, and Motherhood. In fact, if I were you I would just go through them all. The are such sweet messages for everyone everywhere. (I find the one on Gossip, looking through windows, to be spot on, funny, and a great reminder)
