Gun control laws are becoming more extreme all the time, and in some cases getting absolutely ridiculous.
To make matters worse, the assault on the Second Amendment isn’t about to end anytime soon.
Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is planning to spend $50 million to create what he calls a “nationwide grass roots network” to promote gun control and challenge the NRA, The New York Times reported. Bloomberg will use his money to punish politicians who oppose gun control.
“We’ve got to make them afraid of us,” Bloomberg said of Second Amendment supporters.
Bloomberg plans to combine several gun control organizations into one super group he calls “Everytown for Gun Safety,” The Times reported. The organization will work behind the scenes to pressure politicians to expand background checks and other gun control measures. Most of the money will be used in “blue states” like Colorado and Washington State where sympathy for gun control is strong.
The organization already has 1.5 million supporters and plans to round up one million more, the former mayor said.
7 Most Extreme Gun Control Laws
Second Amendment supporters should be worried about this effort because in the past Bloomberg’s money has helped get some extreme gun control laws on the book.

Some of the nation’s strictest anti-gun legislation includes:
A Washington, DC, law requires all guns be registered and prohibits anyone from possessing ammunition if they don’t have a gun permit. The law’s ban on “unregistered ammunition” has been the source of shock and frustration by gun owners nationwide.
Connecticut’s Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety Act makes owning an unregistered assault weapon a felony. Some Connecticut residents who tried to register their guns received letters telling them to dispose of the weapons because they mailed applications too late.
Six states require gun owners be fingerprinted before buying a firearm: Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
Texas, despite its gun friendly status, does not allow adults between 18 and 20 to obtain a concealed carry permit. Several other states have similar laws.
California and New Jersey limit handgun purchases to no more than one a month.
San Francisco requires that gun owners keep their firearms disabled with a trigger lock or stored in a locked container when not being carried.
New York’s SAFE ACT, which has prompted widespread opposition in the northern part of the Empire State, bans magazines of more than 10 rounds, bans the sale of so-called assault weapons in state, requires the registration of assault weapons purchased before the law went into effect, and requires stolen guns to be reported within 24 hours.
Such laws could soon be coming to your city if Bloomberg and his allies get their way. The New York Times reported that Everytown for Gun Safety wants to turn out large numbers of women voters to counter the NRA’s influence.
“You’ve got to work at it piece by piece,” Bloomberg told The Times. “One mom and another mom. You’ve got to wear them down until they finally say, ‘Enough.’ ”

Bloomberg has also rounded up some powerful and influential allies to serve on an advisory board. The advisors include billionaire investor Warren Buffett, former Pennsylvania Governor and Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge (a Republican) and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff retired Admiral Michael G. Mullen.
“I don’t know what your perception is of our reputation, and mine, the name Bloomberg around the country,” the ex-Mayor said of his reputation outside NYC. But every place he goes, he added, people say “you’re a rock star. People yelling out of cabs, ‘Hey, way to go!’”
