yaaaaaasssssssssssssss official merch

Okay okay, let’s review the facts.

Let’s assume that this is the series’ official website:

It’s linked on the series’ official twitter and has been referenced multiple times.

Now, if you click on “Shop” at the top right, you get this:

The personalized goods came out a while back, if you recall. If you click on “fan swag” to the right:

Okay. Technically a third party site, but still, officially endorsed and licensed by ZAG. And, if you click to continue:

Ta da!

Friend, I am no fool. When somebody tells me there’s official merch out, I don’t click and order the first thing I see. I refer to official sources such as the official website or Papapillon, and then I proudly call it the official site.

Also, aside from the other comments I just posted, just wanted to point out:

No where does the entire disclaimer say or even hint to this shop being endorsed or licensed. In fact, it states the exact OPPOSITE by saying “We are not responsible for the content or availability of linked sites”.

This store is about as “official” as you are the “official” ladybug tumblr blog.

If the site I linked is the Miraculous Ladybug website, then by linking an outside store that makes ML merch, they are okay with them using their creative property for profit. If ZAG didn’t like that they were selling ML stuff, they would file a cease & desist, not link to them straight from the official website. As some of you remember, after the show started getting popular, artists on Redbubble selling ML merch were sent C&Ds because they weren’t licensed to use it. I doubt ZAG would just let a third party site make money if they didn’t get a little profit in return.

I would say that the shop they link does claim to be the official shop, though you make a good point that including “official” in your title does not necessarily make it so. So it’s not so much an official shop, but ZAG is officially okay with them selling merchandise (by linking them and not destroying them).

All I said in my first post is “it’s not official”. I never said anything about Zag sending C&D or whatnot. And Zag is not officially okay with anything because there’s been no post about such.

Again, going by the facts, the MiraculousLadybugShop is copywrite protected only by themselves and not an affiliate with Zag:

Zag specifically warns you as you leave their website that anything you see outside of their page is not backed, protected, or endorsed to be apart of Zag America. It also specifically warns you to read their policies and if you have any issues, to take it up with them.

“Disclaimer: You are now leaving the ZAG AMERICA “Miraculous Ladybug” website and are going to a website that is not operated by ZAG AMERICA. We are not responsible for the content or availability of linked sites.

Please be aware that the security and privacy policies on these sites may be different than Zag America’s policies, so please read third party privacy and security policies closely.

If you have any questions or concerns about the products and services offered on linked third party websites, please contact the third party directly.”

Just in case it’s not legible in the picture.

This is similar to WeLoveFine’s contest. If you read the contest contract and T&C, it says specifically that any merch created does not belong to Zag America, but is owned by both WeLoveFine and Zag as a partner.

That is how something gets affiliated and endorsed.
