Louisiana-Lafayette stumbled down the stretch with losses to Louisiana-Monroe and South Alabama, but is still headed to its third consecutive bowl game under coach Mark Hudspeth. The Ragin’ Cajuns are 2-0 straight-up and against the spread in their previous two bowl appearances under Hudspeth, but they’ll have their hands full with the surprising Tulane Green Wave.

One year after going 2-10, the Green Wave turned things around and are headed to their first bowl since 2002. Tulane also struggled down the stretch, losing three of their last four games.

The game will be played in the Superdome, where the Green Wave went 5-1 against the spread this season. Tulane also lost to South Alabama this season, 41-39 in Week 2. Louisiana-Lafayette fell to South Alabama 30-8 in the last game of the season. The Ragin’ Cajuns went 1-3 as underdogs this season.

[New Orleans Bowl Matchup Stats]

The Ragin’ Cajuns will be playing in their first bowl game in over 40 years on December 17 in the New Orleans Bowl against the Aztecs. San Diego State is looking for its second straight bowl win after winning the Poinsettia Bowl last season over Navy.

While both teams finished 8-4 SU, UL Lafayette held the edge ATS at 8-4 to San Diego State’s 5-7 ATS. San Diego State is favored though as the Aztecs played in a tougher conference. UL Lafayette is 7-0 ATS as an underdog this season.

San Diego State senior quarterback Ryan Lindley is considered a legitimate NFL prospect - he finished the season with 2,740 yards passing and 20 touchdown strikes to just eight interceptions.

Ohio had seven wins against the spread in college football betting this year - and as a small 1.5-point underdog against a Troy team that had just four ATS wins they might be a viable wager in this year’s edition of the New Orleans Bowl.

Troy -1.5 / 58 Points

[New Orleans Bowl Matchup Stats]

The Bobcats weren't sure they would even get to play in a bowl game after dropping their regular-season finale, but they got an at-large spot into the New Orleans Bowl. The Bobcats are hungry to prove they are not there by fluke, but with a winless record in MAC title games and four bowl appearances it will be a tough challenge to overcome the NCAAF odds.

The Bobcats will try and limit Troy’s air attack with its more complete defense. They have been good against the run, and allow just 3.2 yards per carry. They also notched 17 interceptions during the season.

Ohio will rely on its running game with two mobile quarterbacks in Phil Bates and Boo Jackson, not to mention running back Vince Davidson who racked up 513 yards with six touchdowns. Wide receiver Terrence McCrae could be a difference-maker for Ohio; he only had 32 catches this season, but nine were for touchdowns.

Troy has won or shared the Sun Belt conference title in five consecutive seasons, and has gone 1-1 all-time in the New Orleans Bowl. [ Like betting college football underdogs? Many do at bowl time, check out Bovada for the latest lines. ]

Troy amassed a conference-best 441 yards per game in its wide-open offense, which throws an average of 40 passes a game. Corey Robinson is a redshirt freshman, but threw for 3,339 yards and 24 touchdowns. It will be up to Robinson and the offense to rack up points, especially since its defense surrenders over 170 yards on the ground and nearly five yards per carry.

The Trojans may be favorites in this bowl matchup, but they are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven. Six of their previous nine games have also gone UNDER, and playing a defensive-minded Ohio team could make this a trend to watch with the New Orleans Bowl odds.
