The Gonzaga Bulldogs have hit the top spot in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time in school history, giving them an added boost on the March Madness betting lines at the sportsbooks with the NCAA Tournament now only two weeks away.
The Bulldogs grabbed 51 first-place votes in the March 4 edition of the AP Top 25 poll, moving them ahead of the Indiana Hoosiers in that ranking. The Hoosiers received just seven first-place votes and are now sitting at No. 2 in the AP Top 25.
And the sportsbooks continue to drop the odds on the Bulldogs coming out on top in the NCAA Tournament this spring, as they currently sit at just +500 to take the title at the Big Dance. The Hoosiers, though, are still ahead of them on those college basketball betting lines at +350.
Duke, Kansas, and Georgetown make up the rest of the top-five schools in the current AP Top 25 poll, followed by Miami, Michigan, Louisville, Kansas State, and Michigan State with conference tournaments set to get started in the week ahead.
The 2013 NCAA Tournament gets underway with opening-round games on March 19 and March 20, with the first weekend of action taking place from March 21-24. The Final Four is set for April 6, with the national championship game taking place on April 8 in Atlanta.

The Kentucky Wildcats have dropped like a stone on the March Madness odds at the sportsbooks, with Florida, Indiana, and Michigan replacing them atop the NCAA Tournament betting lines as we quickly approach the postseason.
The February 11 AP Top 25 poll had Indiana on top, followed by Duke, Miami, Michigan, Gonzaga, Syracuse, Florida, and Michigan State. The Gators, however, sit as the favorites on the March Madness odds at Bovada to win the NCAA Tournament this spring at 5/1.

Betting on college basketball reaches a fever pitch each spring and the rush to locate the best March Madness odds has become just as frenetic as the action on the court.
It's known as the Big Dance and The Tournament, but mainly it's known as March Madness - the three-week run of action that decides who wins the college basketball national championship.
A year ago, UConn began its remarkable run in the Big East tournament and won the title behind Kemba Walker. In 2012, Kentucky enters the tournament as the No. 1 March Madness seed (they are currently 9/4 odds to win it all).
And before you put your money on the top seeds, recall that little Butler has made it to the national final the past two seasons. It won't happen in 2012 (they had been 500/1 odds at Bovada as of early March but they didn't make the field) but it proves every school has a chance.
Realize as well that three of the four No. 1 seeds didn't even win their conference championships, so upsets could be plenty.
Ohio State is the best bracket pick by many experts and they are 11/2. UNC and Michigan State are next at 13/2 and 17/2.
For Cinderella bettors, Florida State is 35/1 and Temple is 100/1. [ See March Madness Seed vs Seed betting trends article ]
