Position Summary
Performs electrical and electro mechanical repairs. Assist with conducting system grooms and checkouts, and configuration validation. Prepare and install systems alterations. Involves heavy lifting, frequent stooping or bending and possible working assignments in overhead structures, confined spaces or beneath machinery. Strict adherence to safety, quality standards, good housekeeping habits, high level of critical thinking/reading comprehension, and frequent travel/overtime are required.
Security Clearance
DoD Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reports directly to the Supervisor in the performance of his/her responsibilities. In the absence of the Supervisor, he/she will report to an individual designated by the Supervisor. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Strict adherence to corporate, federal, state and local safety regulations prior to setting up or operating any machinery. In sure that all Oceaneering International, Inc. (OII) Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn and that all damaged PPE is discarded. Read and understand OII PPE Policy.
Maintain good housekeeping practices; turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc.
Equipment other than those required by the “Required Tool List” maybe checked out from the Tool Room. All tools checked out from the Tool Room are your financial responsibility. Return tools/equipment to proper location and report any lost, missing, stolen or damaged items to the Facilities Supervisor in accordance with Process Instruction.
Assist the Facilities Supervisor, as directed by your Supervisor, for conducting preventive and corrective maintenance.
Ensure all tools listed on the “Production Required Tools List” are available for use within two weeks of your employment at OII.
Issue that all requirements of the OII Quality Assurance Manual are followed when invoked by Task Group Instructions (TGI), Process Instructions (PI) and/or other guidance given by management.
The use of corporate credit cards are used for travel, these travel expenditures that are caused by corporate travel are to reconciled as soon as possible. It will be your responsibility to submit travel claims weekly to ensure prompt account reconciliation.
Follow detailed repair procedures and instructions (e.g.; QA packages steps, RECs, CWPs, FWPs, TGIs etc.) required to complete the production operations.
Perform as Team Member, cooperating with the efforts of other trades during an installation, modification or repair operations.
Coordinating the efforts of other trades during an installation, modification or repair operation. Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose the problem and provide most cost effective recommendation for completing repairs. Perform and/or verify mechanical alignments.
Prepare Condition Reports to document unsatisfactory condition(s) identified during the production operation (i.e.; repair, modification, etc.).
Ensure and assume responsibility for Level-1 and SUBSAFE material controls in accordance with Process Instruction (PI-008).
Perform installation, repair, overhaul or modification in place or in shop to electronic or electro mechanical systems and components (e.g.; controllers, switches, pumps, etc.).
Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems. Assist with the performance of on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation.
Prepare and install equipment or system alterations (e.g.; TEMPALTs, SHIPALTs, ORDALTs, etc.) IAW the directives (i.e.; instructions, drawings, MILSPECs, etc.).
Assist with the conduct of field service work for system/component evaluations.
Qualifications
High School/GED with Apprenticeship Diploma and additional vocational courses or technical school graduate; and/or military and/or civilian experience with marine electrical systems in a repair department or shipyard. Must have the ability to obtain government base access. Knowledge and practical skills tests required.
**Level-I Qualifications:** Requires constant supervision/oversight and has knowledge of the trade qualifications and performs as an entry level Electrician. Ability to follow basic repair procedures and instructions required to perform production operations. Assist with the performance of system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation. Assist with preparing and installing equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications.
**Level-II Qualifications:** Requires limited supervision/oversight and is familiar with the trade qualifications and can perform most tasks required as an Electrician. Must be able to follow basic repair procedures and instructions to complete the production operations. Perform basic installation, repair, overhaul or modification in place or in shop to electrical or electro mechanical systems and components (e.g.; controllers, switches, motors, etc.). Assist in performing component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems. Assist with the performance of on-site electrical service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation. Prepare and install equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications. Assist with the conduct of shipboard work for electrical system/component evaluations.
**Level-III Qualifications:** Requires limited to no supervision/oversight, has experience in the trade qualifications, and can perform all work required as an Electrician. Must be able to follow detailed repair procedures and instructions required to complete electrical production operations. Perform installation, repair, overhaul or modification shipboard or in shop to electrical or electro mechanical systems and components. Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems. Assist with the performance of on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation. Prepare and install equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications. Perform shipboard work for electrical system/component evaluations.
**Specialist Qualifications:** Requires no supervision and is an expert in all tasks and qualifications required as an Electrician. Must be able to follow complex repair procedures and instructions required to complete all electrical production operations. Expertly perform installation, repair, overhaul or modification shipboard or in shop to electrical or electro mechanical systems and components. Accurately perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems first time thorough. Assist with the performance of on-site electrical service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs, connectorization, and system configuration validation. Prepare and install equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications. Lead and perform shipboard work for system/component evaluations.
**Additional Specialized Qualifications/Experience:** Fiber Optic Splicing, NAVSEA Cableway Certification, Connectorization Certification, Deep Submergence Systems (SOC MCD A, B, and C), SUBSAFE Qualification.
