When and where was the conference?
July 24-27th in Phoenix, AZ
How long have you been representing your company?
At the end of August, I will have been with Origami Owl for 1 year! I cannot believe how time flies. I started off just looking to supplement my teaching income, not thinking about having a team, but just hosting Jewelry Bars. Now I have a team of 4; two of which include a mother/daughter team. I love every minute of this!
Was this your first time attending the conference? If no, how many times have you attended?
This was my first time attending the conference and only Origami Owl’s second year putting on this convention. I am looking forward to our next one in Chicago!
Did you hesitate at all about attending? Why or Why Not?
I did hesitate to go to convention. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to go; it’s just that I was not going to attend because I was limited on funds. However, my mentor was kind enough to purchase my registration ticket for me by setting aside the commission she made from me. I am very grateful and appreciative for her generosity. That’s what I LOVE about Origami Owl…we are a Force For Good; always helping each other out.
Who were the speakers at your conference?
We had various speakers at our conference. Some of the speakers included our founders Chrissy + Bella Weems. We also got to hear from our new Chief Sales Officer, Sandy Spielmaker, who let us designers know that she will “fight like a girl” to the end for us. Chief Performance Officer, Darlene Santore “Coach Dar,” also gave us some words of wisdom “We don’t lose. We take setbacks and turn them into comebacks!” Just keep pushing forward with whatever comes your way.
The BEST speaker of all was our Keynote speaker Erik Wahl, graffiti artist extraordinaire. If you have not seen his work before, you’ll have to check it out. Did you know he could paint a picture in just about 5 min? CRAZY!
I have never heard of this man before, but his words just sat on my heart. One word that particularly stuck was LIMIT. How often do you limit yourself, do I limit myself, limit others? Whether it is with work, abilities, friends, or FAITH. It’s time to stop limiting ourselves! When we do, we miss out on opportunities – a new job, a new friend, and an adventure of a lifetime. When you think you can’t say, “I can.” Be FEARLESS!
What was the highlight of the event?
It is hard to pick just one moment as a highlight of the event….let’s see.
I loved the “Everybody Gets One.” This is where they gave away some of the Fall product line to us after revealing what was coming out.
The announcement of our incentive trip to MAUI was a hilarious skit, a parody, of the Brady Bunch. They even gave us a pineapple, palm tree, and flip-flop charm. These are now going into a goal locket for myself.
Our team dinner was so much fun. If you are ever in Phoenix, Arizona go to The Duce. At first sight you will see a run down building and think ‘am I in the right place,’ because that is exactly what we did. Once you walk inside you’ll love it. It’s a great little place with antique merchandise, and games that include ping-pong, shuffleboard, and corn hole. They even have Karaoke and dancing. Oh and the food was great too!
On our last night of the convention we had an awards gala. It was neat to recognize all the ladies who have made great strides with Origami Owl. However, the best part of the gala was the dancing. I LOVE dancing! This girl was on the dance floor all night until the lights came on.
What products are you looking forward to for the fall season?
When Origami Owl came out with the Link Locket Bracelet last Fall; I fell in love. Is it even possible to fall further in love with a bracelet? Yes! Just wait till you see the new Leather Wrap Bracelets. It’s so me!
Our Fall Collection was inspired by Endless Possibilities to help you discover new ways to tell your story. There’s sooo much to share that we needed 72 PAGES to fit it all in—like the new CORE™ and Bridal Collections, Crystals by Swarovski®, Lanyard Lockets and Leather Wrap Bracelets. We’ve also designed a bunch of new Charms, Twist Locket Bases and Faces, Dangles, Chains and more. You’ve gotta see it all to believe it!
All of this is now available…….eeeek!
What are your goals for the following year?
I am looking forward to earning the incentive trip to Maui. I have 4 months to earn 22,000 points and sponsor 3 new team members. I am going to Maui! Best of all it is during my BIRTHDAY!! Who wouldn’t want to be in Maui for their birthday!
My goal for the following year is to continue building my team and achieving a new rank, Senior Team Leader.
Do you plan on attending next year’s conference?
Our next Origami Owl Convention is in Chicago July 24-26th! I am already starting to save. I cannot wait to attend!! It will also be another state to cross off my list of states to visit.
What would you say to someone if they were hesitant about attending their company’s conference?
Don’t limit yourself. If it is financial, see if your mentor/up line can help you out. Find a way to go. Start setting aside some of your commission monies now to help get you there.
If you don’t think you will get anything out of it, you will. All it takes is one person, keynote speaker, break out session, friend to say something that just hits close to home. Then you are off and running, revived and ready to try all the new ideas you have learned about. Don’t skip your conference!!
Is there anything that you are just excited to share about your conference?
I am excited to share some of the pictures of our new Fall product line with you. It was one of the best parts of our conference. The suspense of wanting to know what Origami Owl would be launching had us squirming in our seats. Take a look! August 18th is so far away, yet so close. I can’t wait for our Fall line to launch!!
