Road closures for Saturday event
The following road closures will be in effect 7 a.m. to midnight Saturday, July 4, for the “Stars, Stripes and Slides” event in downtown Ocala:
-- Magnolia Avenue from State Road 40 to Fort King Street
-- Southwest First Avenue from SR 40 to Fort King Street
-- Southwest Second Avenue from SR 40 to Fort King Street
-- Southwest Third Avenue from SR 40 to Fort King Street
-- Southwest Broadway Street from U.S. 441/Pine Avenue to Northeast First Avenue
Devices will be in place to re-direct traffic.
The event includes a 500-foot water slide, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with food trucks, music and more. The cost is $20 for an all-day slide pass, $10 Kids’ Zone pass or $25 combo. Fireworks and other activities are free. For more information, call 368-5517.

Temporary lane closures in NW Ocala
Motorists traveling Northwest 42nd Place between the intersections of Northwest Gainesville Road and North U.S. 441 will experience temporary, intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 6-31 for utility work.
Crews will place barricades and signage to direct traffic through the work zone. Travelers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.

Horsemanship summer camp begins on July 6
The Marion Therapeutic Riding Association will host a Horsemanship Summer Camp for ages 7-14 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 6-10 and July 13-17, at 6850 SE 41st Court, Ocala.
The cost is $325 per week with a $50 discount when enrolling in both weeks. A discount is also given for siblings.
The camp will include horseback riding, arts and crafts, and storytelling. For more information, call 732-7300.
Friday Forum of Marion County topic is Cuba
The Friday Forum of Marion County will meet at 11:30 a.m. July 10 at Buffet City, 1512 SW 10th St., Ocala.
Panel participants include Darrell Riley, Iris Diaz, Rolando Sosa and Julio Travieso, with Lola Gonzalez, owner of Accurate Background Checks, moderating. Speakers will discuss recent trips to Cuba.

Applications for First Friday Art Walk
The First Friday Art Walk is accepting registrations from visual artists, performing artists and business partners for the 2015-16 season.
The art walk occurs the first Friday of each month from 6-9 p.m., from September through May. Registration for the September event must be submitted no later than Wednesday, July 15.
